I have a NEC Electra Elite IPK II multi-line phone. My phone only rings 3 times before going to voice mail. I need more time to answer the phone myself. Can anyone help?

I just figured this one out for our office. I had to find the system manual online (don't know what happened to our copy), and it figures I was looking in the wrong place. Because the call is forwarded to your extension from the mail attendant, the solution is in Transfer System Options. This is 24-02 in System Data when logged into the server as an admin. Option 3 is Delayed Call Forward Time. Ours was set to 10 seconds (about 2.5 rings), and after changing it to 20 seconds it now rings 5 times before going to voice mail. And here I was looking under voice mail options for about an hour trying to figure this one out.

You either need to have your call forward busy/no answer (CFB/NA) timer tweaked on the phone system or have the rings to answer setting changed on your voice mail system. Unfortunately, the former requires you to enter programming mode from either an admin phone (ext. 100 or 101) or through a maintenance interface computer (rare). The latter requires access to the voice mail computer terminal. Perform this test: Call your phone ext. from another ext. on the system. Count the number of seconds before it forwards. If this is the same number of seconds that an outside call rings before forwarding, it's the CFB/NA timer. If the time is different, it may be the voice mail rings to answer setting. If you turn forwarding off at your ext., call the number that rings too few times there and see if it goes to voice mail. If it still goes to voicemail with your forwarding off, it's a timer setting in the voice mail system. You need to determine if the voice mail system is holding onto the call before transferring it to the phone. For example, an outside call comes in and the auto-attendant (voice-mail) answers the call. I've programmed a lot of these systems with and without voice mail. They are very flexible and can be programmed to do seemingly the same thing in many different ways. The short answer is you're probably going to have to call a tech familiar with the system and how it's programmed. As a tech, I would need to determine if it was set up with a primary auto-attendant (voice mail picks up immediately with company greeting), had delayed ringing to an auto attendant (rings several times before company greeting), if the auto-attendant transferred blind or screened the transfer. It's about 14 key strokes from the attendant phone from start to finish.

You have to change the rings from the voice mail server. If you don't know your way around the server, its best to get a local NEC tech although it is fairly simple to navigate. Depends on your skill. Typical default password for the server is NEC

Dtu 16d ringer is off at other stations. I need to get the phone to ring on the other stations.

Hello, That would be a system ring group programming feature. It would depend on the type of phone system you have. NEC Elite 192, Elite IPK, Elite IPK 2. There are different platforms and this would determine how to program it.

How to change from lunch to day mode

These phones work on about 8 NEC systems, but for a PRO II, an Elite, and an IPK, the standard code is Feature,80, Feature from one of the two main reception extensions. Don't know the code for a 2000, 8100, or IPK II.

Voice mail donot pickup phone just ring and ring

Sounds like the voicemail is locked up or dead. If you have an Elite, an IPK, or IPK II, they use a similar voicemail circuit card, and that card is way past its prime. If your lucky a system reset will bring everything online, but its possible it's gone and not coming back. See an actual service tech for this type of serious issue, not a good idea to try this on your own.

How do change the outgoing "Night Mode" message in the Voice Mail System on NEC Electra Elite DTU 32D-1?

If you are using an Active Voice product (typical w/ NEC) you need to change the hours of operation on the voice mail system. "Night Mode" only changes the ringing characteristics of the phone system and where calls ring, not the greetings that play on the voice mail. The voice mail plays a particular greeting (Day/Night/Holiday) based on the time of day specified in the schedule. The system administrator for the voice mail would have to make this change.

We have the NEC electra elita and would like to have the calls go directly to our voice mail greeting. How do we change it from ringing 3 times to go directly to voice mail? Thanks.

Hi you need to ask the installer to programme that specific extension to answer that ring sequence ,this can be done via your modem saving a call out cost.if you don't have a modem i strongly suggest that you get one and control the system remotely,

Nowadays it can be done via the Dtmf tones on that specific extension.

Hope this helps you.

HOW CAN I ANSWER THE PHONE WITHOUT PRESSING ANY BUTTON?

It has to do with a program called ringing line preference. Program # 4-11. Check out www.wedophones.com/Manuals/NEC/Electra%20Elite%20IPK%20Programming%20Manual%20-%20Document%20R%204.pdf

If you happen to have an Electra Elite 48, 192 or IPK this manual can show you how to program that feature. Don't take it lightly though, you can jeopardize your system if you do not know what you are doing.

How to change time on NEC Electra Elite IPK? I

You have to be on the root phone or "first phone".
To check various phones -Hit {feature} 4.
Should display 100= TEL 01. Once on the first phone then use {feature} 9 #.
Time will flash at top of display and can be adjusted.

If you are not on the first phone you will get error at the top of the display. Leave the hand set on the hook.

Changing amount of rings when going to voicemail

The call forwarding was turned off. To turn on, press speaker, enter 793, press 1(for set), press extention number, and enter 300. If you have call forwarding on and are looking for more rings, do the above steps except press 2 (for clear).
