Epson Stylus CX6000 Says I'm out of Black ink even with new cartridge

I just got a new bonfided...not a cheap imitation...black ink cartridge and it charged fine and I printed a few pages. I just turned the printer on after a few days of not using it and it says I'm out of black ink again. I went through the trouble shooting procedures and it says it is charging for about a second, then says its out of ink again. I've gone over the the procedures many times and it ends the same way...out of black ink... I'm stumped! Just spent over $40 for new cartridges and now it won't print! HELP!

    I have the same problem EXCEPT it is my Cyan cartridge that says it is "out of ink"....Consequently, the printer is basically "dead". Any help would be appreciated.

Hi wa, I would suggest you update your printer drivers, try this, it should help:

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop(watch for the light yellow bar at the top of window viewing pane, click on this and choose – download file - . Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.

Be sure you are using genuine epson ink. Epson printers are "smart" and will not allow generic ink to work properly. Even after you replace a generic with a genuine it may take several print outs and alignments to get it to print again.

We were out of black ink so we changed the cartridge and now it prints everything but black in pink or red. We've tried changing all the other cartridges.


You could find the root cause by performing different steps. One of the easiest methods is that you need to make sure that the plastic protective tape which is usually used on the new black cartridge is off. Usually the user makes this mistake. This mistake might occurs due to absent-mindedness. The reason could also be some distractions which happen while loading the new black ink cartridge.

Replaced all cartridges will not print black


Before you replaced the ink cartridge, did you let the ink in the previous cartridge run completely dry? If you did, then the printer heads are completely dry and it will take awhile for ink to start flowing again.

Color ink cartridge says empty i just filled it


When you put in a "new" cartrage the printer sens an electrical charge to the cartrage to set it up properly. So I would treat this as a new cartrage, rather than a refilled one. Go to the printer menu and re install the ink cartrage in question, it should recognise it and start the function as a new one, good luck

Won't print unless all ink cartridges have ink.


Try changing it in the properties section under device settings
or go to color management if you have it and change the setting to black only,.

Black ink from new cartridge is missing lines


Try doing nozzle cleaning, hope fully this flushes the air bubbles trapped in the cartridges. Or try using this template which sometimes flushes out the inks.

Need copy of start here sheet


Printer is fairly new....have changed the inks once.....lost the
book, I guess,,,,,anyway, I THOUGHT I changed the black also,
but I have no black ink. I got a new cartridge, but don't know
how to install it......menu?? instructions? feel ignorant???
