Laptop problems My daughter's laptop has a message that keeps coming up when turned on. It will load up when you turn the computer on and get to the window xp loading and then a black screen comes up with this message in a box saying........ ISASS.exe-Bad Image The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\SAMSRV.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette. (then it has an "ok" in a block once you click it, it goes off but nothing else happens. We can't bring anything up on this computer at all. I have even put cd's in it and it won't acknowledge it. My mother bought this laptop off ebay for my daughter for a graduation gift. There was not a cd or anything with it at all. The computer is a gateway solo 5300.Please help???

Can you tell me where I may be able to find a reinstallation disk and the software too. Also what software do I need? The computer has a sticker on the back that says it is Windows 2000 Professional 1-2 cpu by microsoft. It also has a Product key. I just don't know anything about computers. Thank you so much for your help.

Sure..sounds like it needs a re install of the operating system, as that image is not a photographic one, but a digital image..if this is a new one for you, then a reinstallation is needed. if you did not get the disks, then you will need new software too.

Computer is not loading..black screen keeps coming with the message input not supported..how can i turn my computer on normally.it loads on safe mode.

Input not supported could be the screen having problems. It loads in safe mode so the display driver is corrupt or set to a too higher resolution for your screen.
Adjust it as required.

I have an HP Pavilion dv4. The wireless connection disables when the computer is bumped or moved. Also, the computer will freeze up and shut down when it is bumped. I read a forum that said to go into...

Sounds that the wireless adapter daughter board is either loose or failing. First, we need to make sure it is making good contact with the laptop's motherboard. In order to do this, we have to do the following:
1. Turn off the laptop & remove the battery.
2. Look at the compartments in the bottom of the laptop. You should be able to see 2 or 3 areas with small rectangular plates covering them. These plates usually have one or 2 screws holding them in place.
3. Check which one of those plates is the one which covers the wireless adapter daughter board. When you find it unscrew its screws & remove it.
4. Below the plate, there will be a small daughter board screwed to the laptop's motherboard, with 2 thin wires attached to it (usually one black wire & the other is a white wire). Gently, remove both wires using a small flat screw driver to pull them out gently. Don't forget to note down which wire connects to which connection point.
5. Unscrew the wireless adapter daughter board & remove it from its slot.
6. Clean both the slot & the daughter board's terminal connectors using a dry electric contact cleaner. You can purchase it at an electronics store.
7. Leave the slot & the daughter board for a while to dry.
8. Re-place the daughter board back in the slot & screw it to the motherboard.
9. Reconnect the 2 wires.
10. Screw back the covering plate.
11. Put back the battery & turn on the laptop. Check if the problem was fixed.

If this did not fix the problem, you will need to repeat the steps to remove the wireless adapter daughter board & replace it with a new one.

My computer wont boot up the fan and light turn on for a second then goes right off....

With the little bit of information presented, it appears that this is possible a power supply problem. One thing you can try is to unplug the power adapter from the laptop, remove the battery, then plug the power adapter back into the laptop. Then try to turn it on. If everything comes up normally, then the problem points, potentially, to the battery.
Hope this helps!

My computer starts to load windows, then loses all power,

Does the same thing happen when you try to load the BIOS. (press keep pressing F2 when you turn on the computer). If it happens while the computer is in the BIOS window then its your power supply that is fried.

It does sound like the power supply is fried though. In which case the laptop will need to be taken in for service.
