HP 7310 Deskjet all in 1 printer - scanner problem

Vertical line in scanned output. Always in the same place

    Thanks for the reponse.

FYI - I had already cleaned the glass. The line is created in the scanned output regardles if I use the ADF or position the doc diretly on the flatbed. Printing a document does not produce a line either. So my problem appears to to be with the scanning mechanism iteself. The question that I have, is how do I service the scanning mechanism - is their a detector or something that I can clean myself?

I have the exact same issue. I have cleaned the glass. The glass is not the issue. It has to be the scanner. Copying from the glass produces no vertical lines.

I have an officejet 7310 and also have the same problem.

Definitely an issue with the automatic feeding mechanism to the scanner!

    Any ideas on a solution?

HP wants me to buy a whole new machine when I think it might be an easy fix.

    Ideas or suggestions?

You can check the white guide bar that sits above the glass, any marks on there will leave a streak because it is the white reference for the scanner. after that you will probably need a new scan assembly because sometimes single elements will burn out.

HP 7310 All-In-One giving a dark line one scans and copies

I had the same problem but figured it out. Both sections of the top of the printer open and under the left side there is a separate "scanner window" that you can't see unless you open that side. lift your regular scan tray and then pull the left side up (it opens out to the left) and then left the piece that is under it. You should be able to see the thin scanner window. You can clean it with rubbing alcohol or even windex.

Vertical lines when scanning using automatic document feeder...Glass is clean

It is not in the glass. More than likely it is in the rollers of the ADF feeder. If you open the cover of the ADF feeder you can see there are 3 screws (! is found under another small cover furthest to the back of the machine. Once these three screws are removed you can left the entire ADF feeder from the unit. You will then be able to clean all the rollers. Do not use alcohol as this will dry our your rollers and cause them to eventually crack. Just use soap and water to clean the rollers. Then reinstall the ADF feeder assembly back on the machine.

Colored Vertical Lines when ADF Scanning

the scanner system using ADF is not the same as in using from the platen glass, (CIS usually called contact image sensor) reads your document and sends the info to be printed, chances are your CIS assembly could be dirty and have some dirt on its surface, try opening this area on the top of ADF and clean with a moistened cloth, especially the affeced left margin, it should work!

My scanner always scans with blurry lines across scanned images from it

Hi,

I believe that you are trying to scan via HP solution center.
Did u tried scanning from Scanners and Cameras in control panel, and did u notice any lines?

If u get the same lines, we have to remove the USB Composite device and imaging device drivers.

1.Right click on MY computer ->Properties->Hardware->Device manager.

2.You will get Device manager window popping out.

3.Check for Imaging Devices, click on + sign, then u will see "hp photosmart c3100" right click on it and click Uninstall. Then, Scroll down to "Universal Serial BUS controllers".Click on the (+) sign.

4.Check for the "USB Composite Device" and right click on it, click Uninstall.(IMPORTANT NOTE:wE HAVE TO UNINSTALL THE PRINTER'S USB COMPOSITE DEVICE, TO KNOW WHETHER IS THE PRINTER'S USB COMPOSITE DEVICE, RIGHT CLICK ON USB COMPOSITE DEVICE AND PROPERTIES,look for wat location says, Eg -LOCATION : HO DESKJET F300)

5.Disconnect the USB and reboot the PC.

6.Connect the USB after reboot, you will get popup "Found new hardware".Then the Drivers will be installed Automatically.

7.Try scanning. Please let me know after following the steps!
