Re: Ethernet card vanished from the list
Xp will have basic drivers..go to the control panel, device manager, and have the system look at the hardware again( at top of the panel, there is an option for action) click on any of the items in the panel, and then Action, Scan for hardware changes..follow those instructions..it may ask for the drivers and utilities disk in that process..

You may download the LAN and all the other Drivers from the below link:
http://support.acer.com/drivers_download.aspx Select the exact Model # of the Computer and download the Drivers. Hope this helps.
Go into the device manager and look underneath where it says network adapters. If your ethernet card is listed there then that means the card is bad. If its not listed there then go here to install the drivers for it:
Choose your Operating System and then choose Network. You might want to take the side off of the computer so you can look at the ethernet card and see who manufactuered it so you know what driver to download.
Download the driver and then after that look at the device manager and you should see the ethernet card in there.
From that point the card should work, if it doesn't then you know for sure at that point that the card is bad.
check the Device Manager,
Go to Desktop/My Computer/Right Click/Properties/System Properties/Hardware Tab/Device Manager/look for Network Adaptor/ Expand it by clicking the + sign/Do u c any Ethernet Adaptor there or any yellow ? mark there....
If u dont c any Netwrok Adaptor then u dont have a network card installed in ur PC, if u have one then it will show up there, and if u dont ahve the correct driver or if's not installe dproperly then u will have the yellow ? amrk or an ! mark....
then in that case u will need the corect driver for the card to work....normaly Windows installs the required drivers for netwrork cards.....
I would check in device manager(control panel) and see if the network card is listed. It probably has a yellow exclamation point next to it.
If there is an exclamation point there, then right click the card and click uninstall. Next, using your wifi to access the internet, download the latest network card driver from the PC vendor website / Motherboard vendor site / discrete network card site.
Install the network card driver and you should be back in business.
You must install the driver software if it in not listed in --- go to "My computer" >> "Properties" >>"Hardware" >> "Device Manager" >> "Modems"
make sure that modem is visible in the list if so , insure that it is not showing with a red icon... if it is ... then install the driver from the modem driver CD....
Make sure the driver of the Ethernet Card on your computer is installed. You check it under Device Manager
Right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware Tab > Device Manager > Network Adapters (click the +). If you see Other Devices with yellow exclamations like Ethernet Controller, that's it. You need to run the Motherboard CD to automatically install the ethernet driver.
