You press the lightnening bolt button (flash button) on the circle and a range of options will appear on the screen in a menu. Go to the lightnening bolt option on the menu and make sure it is turned on. (The one in a circle. Make sure it isn't the one crossed through.

Hope this helps. Please rate this solution.

Internal flash not firing on nikon d40

Make sure you have read your user manual and know how to use the camera, including how to use the flash.
Go to the menus set all settings to factory settings. Later you can set them the way you want. Make sure all settings are set to make the flash work when you want to use it. Some settings will turn off the flash.
If you need technical support or repair consider calling Nikon. Go to nikon.com and browse to the support section, find the repair and the toll free number. Call and see if you can get help on your camera.
Nikon has an up-grade or trade-in program for refurbished units if your repair is too expensive.

I want to shut off the flash.

Hi,

On the back of you camera there is a sign that looks like a lightning bolt. Press the button while the camera is on. You will be able to set the flash to be forced off while taking photos.

Cheers

If you use the "macro" setting (the flower symbol on the command dial), and are holding the camera steady, it should work. Try to ensure sufficient light by shooting near a window. You should also disable the flash by using the arrow on the dial to go to the "no flash" setting. The main problem is most likely that you are shooting close to the images, so the macro setting is a must. Good luck.

Help flash Nixon coolpix L11

hello,

make sure when you press the round selection button on the back of the camera flash option, you press the ok in the center of the button on the back.

it will show brief yellow AUTO in the LCD screen upper right corner for a sec.

when you are going to take a picture holding the shutter button half way down, you should see up at the right corner outside of the LCD screen a red led flashing to indicate flash is ready.

one thing to try if this is not working, find the camera reset option in the menu. after doing this you may have to reset the date & time. it will bring the camera back to default settings

on the bad side if these dont work, possible flash circuit may have failed inside the camera.

good luck!

Hi,

I had the same problem with the Nikon 3200 Coolpix, the flash only worked with certain mode, as scene mode. I solved the problem doing a RESET ALL that is in SET UP menu.
