Speakerphone when answering blackberry pearl 8100

When my blackberry is on a profile that is not vibrate or silent, when I answer an incoming call it is automatically on speakerphone. The person on the other end always tells me that they echo...but after about five seconds it switches back to a normal volume setting. How do I fix it to where when I answer an incoming call no matter what profile it's on a regular, not speakerphone, volume? I've tried changing all of my default call volumes on my profile to low but nothing works! Help!

    I have the exact same problem! I took my phone in and they gave me a new one. The new one still does the same thing so i have another one that is being shipped to my house from Bell. When i take it in they say they have not heard of this problem.

    Yup... I'm searching the web right now to see how to fix this problem. Same thing. I answer the phone and it's on speaker for 5 seconds or so... Hmm....

    I have the same problem. Whenever I answer a calls it goes to speakerphone for 1 to 2 seconds and if I answer during the vibrate it continues to vibrate for a bit. I have a pearl and I have received 3 different replacement phones and now I got a brand-new (non-refirb) and it still does it. I can't figure it out and have tried resetting it and everything. Any help would be great.

    Same exact problem. Ive only had this phone a few months but it just started answering on speakerphone. Anyone had any luck with a solution?

    My Mother has the same problem with hers. It didn't do it at first and now it automatically turns on speakerphone when she answers and then goes back to the normal phone function after a second or two. I'm trying to find a solution for her.

    Same problem. Really irritating. oooh, I've got a black flashy phone - now if I could just answer phone calls with it - not happy.

I had the same problem. I called T-mobil, my carrier, and they had me take the battery out while the phone was 'on' and put it back in. After the security scan was done, the tech called me back on my cell - problem fixed. (I'm not sure if he did something on his end too, but at least try it your self first!)

I disabled bluetooth and that fixed it.

Options->Bluetooth (Full Menu) ->Disable Bluetooth

Ringer Not Working Properly

i would check your profiles. usually the default setting for the load profile is for it to vibrate twice and then ring, so that usually only gave you two rings to answer the phone after it vibrated twice. make sure that within your profile setting that you have it to ring with a tone, and make sure you have a volume selected. i would also use blackberry desktop manager and perform a back up or sync of your blackberry, and then perform a wipe handheld. the wipe hand held feature is in your options---security---general settings---and then press your options button (right of the trackball) and select wipe hand held. you will type the word blackberry and then it will wipe the handset. after it resets try the volume before you restore it, if you still don't have volume your speaker is bad.

Well i have a blackberry pearl 8100 and i set it so that it rings and it does ring but it vibrates twice before that and i dont want it to do that. How do i make it just ring and not vibrate ?

Go to profile, select advance, you will get all the profiles highlight any one of the profile,then press Menu key, select Edit, then select Phone, you will get an option called Out of holster, press Menu key, select Change option under this select Tone, Now you're will only ring.

My BB pearl 8100 doesn't ring for incoming calls/messages/emails, but if i go to listen my ringtones or music they all sound fine, i think it got corrupted or something because no matter how i change the...

Not sure if the pearl interface is the same as mine, a Storm - I have an option on my main screen to fast-select ring volume (called Notification), which affects both calls and messages, and I can choose loud, soft, vibrate, silent, and also go into options for more detailed settings. You may have such an option that is easy to find, and maybe easy to set by mistake, without realising it.

Pearl manual at this location:
see p193, Notification Profiles.
There are other keys, eg # that affect notification sounds/vibrate. Download and search in the manual for 'Notification" to find all the places mentioned.

Even if you have a paper manual, I recommend keeping the electronic one since you can easily search for keywords and find all the places they are mentioned quickly.

I have never a newer blackberry but on the ones, I had this worked for me. When you go into your profile to change them if you hit the menu button while you one of the profiles highlighted there should be a way to edit the profile, it could under advanced options. i hope this helps.

Auto Speakerphone

Remove the battery, hold the power key for 10 seconds. Re-install the battery, power up, issue should be resolved.

Bb pearl won't ring

Have you checked the "profiles" (click the icon on the desktop). Make sure it is not in silent or vibrate mode.
