Re: I dropped my sidekick xl in water.
You'll have to open it and clean all water corrosion with a brush, if it doesn't work after that you need a new motherboard. If you can't get a replacement under warranty there is both an T-Mobile G1 Repair Guide and a third party T-Mobile G1 Repair Service, If you try a self-repair make sure you feel comfortable with opening devices like that.
I miss my sidekick they are awesome phones however you could have the phone replaced but all charges will fall on you... that dot thing gives it away... some stores will repair them if you live in or close to a big town that has the authorized stores to work on them but most times unless its something small it will cost less to just buy a new phone... if you need a phone in the mean time go to any store that sells the prepaid ones... put YOUR sim card in THAT phone and turn it on... you dont even have to call the company it automatically loads and uses your same phone number and will get you by until you figure out what you can or need to do

if water was clean, LOL put phone in oven. battery out first. dry it by hand. leave cover off. (keep battery cool) 1: set oven to AZ temp, 120F. 2: check it carefully with a real thermometer, not stove dial. 3: bake for 1hr. fixed. if dirty clean it with Alcohol with fine brush then do above.

The iPod Touch comes with one year warranty from Apple in a
wrong or defective hardware and software, but the warranty does not cover
liquid. IPod Touch built after 2006 contain an integrated liquid contact
indicator senses the presence of water and is used to indicate when the device
was damaged by water.

1. Find the headset at the top left of the iPod Touch.

2. Looking directly down the hole of the connection. Make
sure you are in a well lit room to clearly see the hole. An amplifier this can
be used for a better view of the headset.

3. Look for a small dot that normally appears white or
silver. The point will change color, and was half or completely red or pink
when the phone is in contact with water.
Clean the charger connector contacts with a stiff brush. If not then use an old toothbrush. Put drops on the bush with IPA but do not put IPA drops inside the charger connector or you may get white spots on the display, Does the power key click ok? if not then they domesheet needs to be readjusted. Under the batter in the rear case of the phone is the white dot on the case red? or the battery has a red dot and not white? if red possible liquid damaged.
take off any covers you can.
take out the battery and sim memory card etc. and leave in the top of the hot press. sadly if it doesnt turn on there isnt much you can do. you will need to leave it there for 2-3 days in a warm condition so the water evaporates.
Also check the indicators on your handset (Seen in RED)
try this : This works on most mini electronic devices like cellular phones and degital cameras etc .
it sounds crazy .
Remove the back (or Cover ) of the phone( or Camera ), battery, and SIM if your phone ( or Device ) uses one , DIRECTLY .
Then, with a q-tip (or something similar), dab the connection points (shiny, goldish) on the battery, SIM, and phone. This should aid in drying.
Finally, place all contents in a bag of uncooked rice (separately, do not put back together just yet). it sounds crazy , but it draws the moisture out.
It normally is working after just 7-8 hours, but I would wait 12 hours or even 24 hours before attempting to use (just to be sure).
beware the water damage, despite being dry now, will void any warranties. Also, the phone's hardware is now weakened and if you drop it, the green mother board and circuitry could shatter - so be more careful.
This does work on electronic devices aside from phones as well. Simply tailor it to your device. If you do not have a SIM (Verizon phones, cameras, all others), remove only the battery. If you have an iPhone/iPod or GPS and cannot remove the battery, simply make sure it is all the way off, then put it in the rice bag. All electronic devices react the same to the rice trick. related link is here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-Otjgd48nY
