Since you have DV2000 Notebook it is installed with HD audio card, first you need to install the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture audio drivers after which you need to install the Audio Drivers and below is are the links for both :
Download the Microsoft UAA Drivers for your notebook from the link below :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-34000/sp33867.exe

Download and save the file into the Notebook and double click it once the download is completed and restart the Notebook after the instllation is completed.
Once the notebook is restarted, dowload and save the Conexant High Definition Audio Driver from the following weblink :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35501-36000/sp35682.exe

Do restart the Notebook once the installation of the audio drivers are completed.
This should solve the issue with the audio in your Notebooks....

Tutorial Manually Install Driver for Windows XP Vista 7 8 and 8 1

Tip

How to Install Window XP with Vista

If you wish to install Windows XP on a computer that comes with Windows Vista already installed then you will have to create a separate partition on your hard drive to install Windows XP onto. This effectively splits the hard drive into two, and keeps the different versions of Windows separate. To do this you need to open up the Computer Management screen by going to the Start menu and then right-clicking on Computer and selecting Manage.

From the Computer Management screen select Disk Management, right-click on your main hard disk where Windows Vista is installed and then select Shrink Volume. This opens up a window where you can choose how large you want the new drive partition for Windows XP to be. You need to select the size of the new partition carefully, as you will need enough space to be able to install Windows XP successfully (around 10 gigabytes) whilst leaving enough space for Windows Vista. After you have selected the appropriate amount of space click on the Shrink button to begin the process, and once that has completed you should be able to right-click on the new partition (which should be labelled “Unallocated free space”) and select New Simple Volume.

Follow the on-screen instructions to configure the partition, set a drive letter (such as E:\), give it a meaningful name such as “XP”, and then restart your computer. Whilst your computer reboots, access the BIOS and change to boot sequence to boot from your CD/DVD Drive before any other device, insert your Windows XP installation disc and then save and exit from BIOS. You will then be taken to the Windows XP installation program where you should follow the instructions until you come to the screen asking you which partition to install Windows XP to.

Make sure you select the new partition and not the one with Windows Vista installed, as this will cause problems. Once Windows XP has finished installing, you will notice that Windows XP loads up automatically, rather than giving you the choice of which operating system to use. To rectify this insert your Windows Vista installation disc and restart the computer to access the Windows Vista installation program. From the Install Now screen select Repair My Computer, and then select your Windows Vista installation and then Startup Repair. You will now be able to choose which operating system to use when your computer starts up.

I need a sound driver for my asus A6R series entertainment nootbook... Model:A6R mb ver: A6RP i do not know much that all information i got from the notebook..thank you..

Sound driver and Audio driver is one and the same thing. I do not know that which Operating system you are using (like Windows xp, Windows Vista and Windows 7). To check this out go to "Computer" or "My Computer" and right click it and then point the mouse pointer to "Properties". A new windows will open and you will be shown the version of Windows (either XP, Vista or Windows 7).

For windows XP download from the following link by copy pasting it in your internet browser

http://www.driverstock.com/ASUS-A6R-driver-download/6-21-10801/index.html

For Windows 7/Windows Vista 6.305 download the

"Realtek AC'97 Drivers for Windows 7/Vista 6.305"
from the following link

http://www.downloads2k.com/Realtek-AC-97-Drivers-for-Vista.html

For older version of Windows Vista 2.50 use the following link

Good luck and take care!

I have just upgrade my ADSL1 connection to ADSL 2 using a Thompson tg585v7 router, the vista machine works ok, however the 2 windows XP machines have connections intermittent performance to the Internet...

You've put a networking problem in as a WinXP issue without describing the network topology.  Perhaps the WinXP systems are set up to use the original connection, and the new router eventually tires of that behavior and cuts those systems off; you can look in the router's logs around the time the WinXP systems drop off for clues.  Look things up, read the manuals, and you will have a better network for your understanding of its operation.

How to dual boot Vista and XP (with Vista installed first) -- the step-by-step guide with screenshots

UPDATED | Got a Vista PC and want to install XP so you can dual-boot between them? Here's how to do it, in an easy, step-by-step format. Page 1 - Intro
media_1221353917454.jpg
Scenario: You want to install Vista on your PC alongside your XP installation, on the same drive. You have installed Vista already. (If you have XP installed first, check out our earlier tutorial on how to dual boot Vista and XP with XP installed first.)
Tutorial Summary: We need to shrink the Vista partition on the hard disk and create enough space for an installation of XP. This can be done in three ways - using the GPartEd Live CD, the DISKPART utility on the Vista DVD or the Vista Disk Management GUI - and we'll cover all three. We'll then install XP and install EasyBCD to reinstate the Vista bootloader which will be overwritten during the XP installation, and then use EasyBCD to configure Vista's bootloader to boot the XP partition.
Updated September 2008: This is an updated tutorial, based on our first Windows Vista/XP dual-booting workshop. The main differences are that we are now using Windows Vista SP1 and Windows XP SP3. EasyBCD has also been updated and this makes some of the steps in our first tutorial redundant - the whole process is now easier.
This tutorial has been tested on a VMWare 6 Workstation.

Need driver CD for HP3740

Hi

The printer doesn't support windows 98. supported systems are:

» Microsoft Windows Vista
» Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
» Microsoft Windows XP
» Microsoft Windows XP x64
» Microsoft Windows 2000
» Mac OS X
» Mac OS 9
» Linux

Drivers are available at this page below:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=401496&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=3&submit.x=8&lang=en&cc=us

Note that there are no drivers for 98 and it won't be simple to get the printer to work with the 98.. I would recommend upgrading to 2000 or windows xp. if your computer is from 1998 it might be better to buy a new computer.

Todays printers don't work with 10 year old computers anymore.

linux would work on the computer for sure, and so would the printer but using linux is quite complex, you would need to get someone to install it for you and make it look as much like windows as possible, its a whole new system..

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Hp psc 750 printer with Vista system

The printer/scanner/copier will work with Windows Vista stated on:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00808543&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=57769&lang=en

You don't need the drivers, only for Windows 98SE to Windows XP, Mac OS 9 to Mac OS X, and Linux. Vista is 100% compatible with the HP PSC 750. Windows XP, same thing as Vista, but XP still needs the drivers to work, or not. First off, you don't sound dumb, nobody is born computer literate. It's one thing to learn how to use computers, it's another when it comes to loading or working on them. Don't worry about it reading upgrade from 98 or 2000, Vista wasn't around when they packaged these, and Vista to XP is fine. I use XP Pro, I find that it's better than XP Home for my needs. Pro or Home will work fine for you, don't get the XP basic, the Home and Pro have better features. Also, you just need to purchase A Windows XP disc, and not a disc from Gateway or Gateway disc. Windows XP is sold at Walmart, Bestbuy, or Circuit City. After the install you will need to go to Gateway's support site and download any drivers that you need, I'll list the link for it bellow. You can find which drivers you need in the device manager, the devices with yellow question marks need drivers. If you have any problems with any of this get back to me. Thanks for the compliment on the pic, most people don't get it, especially the younger crowd on here.
