Question about Sharp AL-1642CS Copier
L and 1. What should i do to restore it?
We haven't had this particular model in South Africa but the "L1" error code on a SHARP machine normally means that there is a problem with the scanning unit (where the exposure lamp is under the glass) on the top of the machine.
The unit does not return fully to the "home" position within the required time interval.
Various things could cause this.
The most common one is that there is an obstruction of some kind preventing the unit from reaching the right position.
Some models have a clear plastic transport stopper that sometimes gets turned by accident when the user tries to clean the machine. If your model has such a stopper to locate it look in the cavity where the paper comes out of the machine, towards the left front of the upper part of the machine the stopper is normally sircular in shape and rotates through 90 to 180 degrees.(its function is to lock the scanner unit during transportation so as to protect the lamp from damage)
If your model has this stopper then rotate it in the opposit direction to where it currently is and the problem should be solved.
If however there is no stopper then there is very little that you can do yourself other than to contact the closest SHARP service centre for assistance.
Hope this has been of assistance to you
