Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My computer USB drive is not picking up my new freecom mobile drive (250gb). Im running on WindowsXP. The drivers for the drive are not being installed and the device is not recognised when connected to the laptop. It isnt the USB drives because they pick up other devices when inserted. The freecom mobile drive switches on and starts running (you can feel it) when connected, but nothing else happens. I also cannot see the "unallocated" drive in my computer. I need help ASAP. Thanks.

sure (buy a pC) LOL
ok , the first test is !
does it spin, hear to case, whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
if not its dead or you lost power to it.
same for all HDD.

if dead, take it apart (out of warranty) and reset all internal cables.
or remove the drive inside and test it.
if drive good, good, if bad its toast.
if the drive is really good, then the power pack in side is bad.
so buy a new case , for the working drive.
I make my own External drives. that way, its not magic and i can fix it and can pick the best cases made, i use fan cases.
that run very cool, heat kills most drives, and 10x that on most
external drives, where heat is never ADDRESSED !

Hello, I'm trying to track down a USB driver for a Freecom FHD-1 external drive to run under Windows 98se (for the moment). Have checked freecom.com for drivers but am a bit dizzy after...

Some info on 98se and USB issues. You should not need a usb driver if the usb port in your computer is already functioning properly. The only inconvenience you will have is your drive will work at the slower speed provided by the usb 1.1 standard.

The link below describes step by step installation of your drive in 98se

Assuming this external hard drie is powered via USB, you probably just need the drivers:

Freecom 400GB Hard drive not recognized.its a Freecom mobile drive xxs 400gb , my pc just cant recgnize the hard drive

I'll assume your using Windows.
I'll assume it's a USB drive.
I'll assume it is an external drive.
And I'll assume it's formatted as NTFS.

Try using the USB (or FireWire) port for anouther drive to see if that is the problem, if it is then reinstall the driver for the port, through the Computer Managment Concole (assuming yur using windows).

If you formatted the drive as FAT, re-format it as NTFS.
