Yes, The section that is used for the ice trays is not working, its cold but not making any ice. The red warning light for the freezer section is on too.

Thank you for your advice, I went downstairs to do what you advised and noticed that the red warning light is back to green and the freezer is working ok now. except for the section where the ice trays are kept, that has not frozen to make ice, however the water in the ice trays are really cold.

    Weird uh?

Thank you for taking the time to write back to me. My prayers must have been heard lol

I am back to the same problem as before, the red light is on again (warning light) for the freezer. How do I take the back panel off the freezer? I think your right about the fan not working properly? how can I rectify this?

The fan seems to be working off and on. Yes it is a frost free Bosch upright free standing classixx fridge freezer. I seem to have misplaced the manual. Where can I get a manual from.

Where is the back panel to the freezer (I know its a silly question, but would that be on the inside of the freezer or on the back out panel? if you know what I mean?

I am strapped for cash so cannot afford to call an engineer out. Help !!

  • smileeukfem Nov 08, 2008

I think your right, as the fan works, then stops the temp light goes green will stay green for a period of time and then turns red again, I then switch off the fridge for a few mins and switch it back on the light again stays green for a few hours and then goes red again. I will try and take the back panel off today to have a look.

Is it possible to download a copy of the manual anywhere?

You will have to check there is power to fan. if so and fan not turning or intermittantly not turning, then fan motor will have to be replaced

i meant the back panel inmside freezer - usually just held in by a few screws. can you hear the fan working?

Suspect the fan is not operating.
take back panel off inside freezer. make sure fan can rotate freely. you may find it jammed with ice build up and if so melt ice off with a hairdryer. if the ice build up is extensive, get back to me.
also check continuity thro the fan motor and check for a supply to the fan motor. on some models, the fan will not start till the evaporator is down to temp so you may have to wait for 15 mins or so till fan starts

Both Lights flashing and fridge not getting cold

I turned the fridge and freezer off using the circular dials, I then turned the unit off at the mains. Left it for a few minutes and then turned the power back on. I then turned the circular dials to "max" and then depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons to turn this facility on. This time they came on normally (not flashing) and no alarm sounded. The fridge and freezer then started to get cold. Once the unit had been running for several hours I then turned the dials to the 3/4 mark and depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons again to turn them off. Over night the fridge and the freezer appear to be working properly so I hope that my problem is solved. Maybe the unit just needed to "settle" before being switched on?

Water in bottom of fridge and in crisper drawers

the defrost drain in the freezer is clogged with ice.
empty the food from the freezer, and put through a defrost. you might have to help the fridge defrost with a hair dryer. you may also have to remove the rear panel (inside the freezer) or pending on the model to bottom panel of the freezer.. (usually held in by 1/4" hex screws.)
melt all the ice, and be sure that the drain is clear, and it should work.

Fridge on top of freezer is not chilling

if you have a french door (also known as bottom mount, freezer on bottom) and your fridge sections(cold air blows from freezer to refrig) is not cooling try this

1. ensure you hear the fan running, its it not, thats it(most likely fan motor
IF fan is running check these things
1. ensure refrig section light shuts off by holding down the switch
2. ensure door shuts
3. clean conderser coils (usually accessed from front through base grille)
4. check for icing in vents, freezer section contain them at top or back, and for a bottom mount the refrig sections vents are under your BIG drawer. if iced try a hair dryer from distance. or empty food into another fridge unplug open doors, and plug back in two days later this should defrost all ice build up

Warm fridge

If you are sure the fan is running either the damper motor (vent in fridge section) is bad and not opening or there is ice in the return vents and not letting air circulate. Take out the bottom drawers in the fridge and look down the two return vents in each corner with a flashlight. If they are iced up the top will not cool.

Make sure the door is closing properly, that nothing is trapped in the door seal, and that the seal isn't torn or distorted. The seals are there to stop moist external air getting in then dropping its load of moisture as it cools. A.
