How do you access the evaporator fan on a GE model GDS18LBR refriderator?

I need to replace the evap fan as the fridge is not getting cold and the fan was making a lot of noise before finally stopping altogether. Can't figure out how to access it.

Your fan is probably not the problem, most-likely the problem stems from a design flaw in GE fridges. Access the evaporator fan through the bottom of the fridge by removing the bottom drawers, the floor and insulation of the fridge and de-ice the area around the fan by using a hair drier and hot water. After completing this you will then want to move to the back of the fridge where you will remove the metal insulated cover covering the upper drain section of the water drainage system. This will expose a snake-like section of tubing, this is where the underlying problem stems from. Remove this section and clean it out with warm water, a turkey baster can make this a little easier. If you notice that the blockage was caused by a build up of dirt and mould then re-install the section of line and replace the insulated metal cover. If the blockage seems to be caused by a ice build up, then re-install the section of line and do not re-install the insulated cover, this will prevent this section from getting too cold and causing a blockage.

Freezer staying cold but fridge side is HOT

The Evaporator fan is not working. Located in the freezer above the evap coils is the circulating fan. Remove the cover to access the evap coils and circulating fan. If fan runs you have a defrost problem and the evap coils will be frozen over.
