Sampo plasma TV 42inch

I bought my Sampo 42-inch HDTV-ready TV five years ago from Best Buy. Recently it developed five vertical red lines on the left hanbd side of the screen., These show in both TV and DVD mode so must be a fault of the set in some way. Any ideas?

A few things to look at , verticle lines.. sustain boards or one of the screens film cables became cut or broke an internal connection in the film. resulting in the need of a new pdp modual (screen) i am also aware that this model uses a media box in the back that fits into two 20 pin or so connectors, remove, make sure all pins are straight and clean them with acetone and a brush. re-plug the media box and see if its ok, if not look at the sustain boards y&z respective of what side of the set its on. Keys on the set, ive had the vol keys get stuck , i notice i had to back the screw out that holds the button panel just a bit to free the keys..its in a small spot on the bottom left, looking from the back (open) give it a turn and a half and try it.

ONE OF TWO THINGS, THE LINE COULD POSSIBLY BE FIXED WITH A SCAN BOARD, BUT NOT LIKELY, PROBABLY NEEDS A SCREEN REPLACED, THE OTHER RED STUFF CAN BE FIXED WITH A X-BOARD REPLACEMENT, BETTER OFF TO BUY A NEW TV

Green vertical line on videocon 42inch plasma tv

Hello Depending how wide the line is their could be two possible causes.
I have two questions for you.
1. How wide is the line.
2. Does it run from top of screen to bottom of screen?
If the line is thin a single strait line then it is possible the PDP has gone Bad (Panel). (Screen). The screen will to be replaced.
If the line is at least 2 or more inches wide then its a buffer board which can be replaced. LG calls this board Hand insert Boards or display driver boards..
