Check the IP addressess. The technician might have configured a static IP which is in a different network other than your router's. hope it helps

Setting up a new laptop & router, followed instructions, laptop recognises the router but the router will not connect to the internet, orange light flashing on top of the router

The modem most likely need to have its power cord unplugged for about 15 minutes in order to allow its NVRAM to clear and accept the MAC address of the new router.
After the 15 minutes are up, plug in the modem and let it sync to the network. Your router should start to work soon after.

I went into Tool in internet explorer and made sure that the SSL and TSL buttons were all ticked. I also checked my firewall to make sure that the firewall recognised and accepted the entire network.

It also seems that when the laptops went online to Spotify the firewall prevented a connection.

Not quite got that bit sorted but all seems ok now so long as no one tries to connect to Spotify

My msi u100 mini laptop recognised my wireless router but is not letting me connect i have inputed my network key off the side of my net gear router ,it won t accept it

Do you mean the encryption key? It may have been changed.
If so you can reset the Netgear back to the default settings and setup a new encryption key.
To RESET the router, press the pinhole RESET button at the back of the router for approx. 10 secs until the LEDs flash.

You need to setup wireless security. Not sure pprecisely which model you have but log into the router and select WPA security. You will need to do the same on all the other devices which wirelessly connect to it (right click on the wireless icon>properties. Afterr you have done that change your skype password

looks like the new laptop has been assigned the same ip address as your old latop so it wont allow u access...renew the ip address, assign ur old lap top a new one or just reboot the router so it will issue u with a new ip address.

Laptop

the internet cable should be connected to the "Internet" or "WAN" port on the router. Your PC should be connected to one of the regular ports on the back of the router and your laptop can be connected just like the pc, or it can connect wirelessly.

Then you should be able to see the internet from your laptop.
