Question about Cuisinart CPT-60 Custom Control Total Touch 2-Slice Toaster

Open Question

Cuisinart CPT-60 Handle falls off

I cannot get the carriage lever handle to stay on this toaster. I have taken the top off the toaster and discovered there is a little clear plastic piece that goes behind the carriage lever (inside the interior of the toaster.) I cannot position the white plastic handle so that it will stay on the metal arm. I can't figure out how to twist/turn the handle so that the little white prong fits into that clear plastic piece within the toaster. Help, anyone?

Do any of the lights come on ?

If not then have you checked the plug top fuse

If the lights come on and then when you press the lever down it does not latch a solenoid has gone open circuit

Good toasters can be fixed

Cheap ones go in the trash bin

SOURCE: toaster won't stay in down position

We opened up our toaster and scraped some baked-on crumbs off the top of the electromagnet that controls the carriage catch. When we closed it back up, it worked again.

Lever won't stay down. Have removed all screws and could take off top but handle on lever prevents this. How do I remove the end of the lever in order to get the top off to check latching mechanism?

My toaster turned out to have an electromagnet that makes its lever and the toast carriage stay down. It turned out that the problem with my toaster was that it was plugged into a faulty outlet. Unfortunately, I destroyed part of my toaster's darkness mechanism trying to understand its latching mechanism before I realized that it was not made like traditional toasters. So my first recommendation to you: try plugging it into an outlet that you KNOW works.

Toaster latch does not stay down on Cusinart CPT-120 compact two slice toaster

for Cuisinart cpt160: If the latch will not stay down it is because the electromagnet at the base of the toaster, which is supposed to activate when you push the handle down, is burnt out. I pulled my toaster apart and did a test of that mechanism and found that the solenoid was fried (open circuit). There are no replacement parts.

The handle on the toaster popped off. the hooklike thing is still there and not broken. how do I get it to stay on?

Get a metal epoxy from the local hardware store for about $5. Most are heat resistant to 300 degrees (confirm on the package). Apply it to the cover according to the instructions.

Wish I did that when mine came off. I've lost it now and there are no replacement parts!

This is a problem, our old toaster had this problem, and it would only work if we jammed the handle down, but don't try this, only because ours broke after we tried this, but if you can send it to the manufacturure, they should be able to fix this. If you don't what to do this, please phone me at 505 9181, but please call me from 8:00-10:00, 2:30-8:00.
