Perform a Hard reset on the device and then rename the backup folder to backup.old on the computer which is located in C---->program files---->Palm---->user name folder. Then perform a HotSync with the computer.
The effective solution for that is do a hard reset.
Yes, it will erase all the data in your device but it usually fix the problem.
If problem persist, the phone is malfunctioning.
To do a hardreset:
-remove the backcover, and then the battery.
-press and hold the red power button. And then insert the battery in.
-Do not release the button until you no longer see the bar crossing at the bottom of the screen
-It will ask you 'erase all data?'
Try to do a hardreset before going to the store for a replacement.

Remove the sim card from the phone and turn it back on, as if you where to dial a number like 911, instead dial *2767*3855# (you may have to press 9 first to get it to open up, remove the 9 and write the code above) the phone will restart, this is a full reset. After your phone has restarted insert the sim back into the phone, turn it back on. if you are still asked for a code other than your sim cards pin number enter 00000000 (that is 8 zeroes) you may also try 1234, 12345, 0000, 00000, but the first one with 8 zeroes is the default code for samsung.
you can try to restart the phone. The only problem with that is that everything you have saved on ur phone gets deleted unless its on a memory card. What you have to do is turn off your phone then wait a couple of seconds then hold the power button along with the to line buttons by the green phone and the end call button. After you hold them down you wiil see a screen that will have some writing when that shows up you press the green phone button. After that it will restart but its going to take a while for it to restart. then when its done deleting everything its going to ask you to tap the screen the its going to ask you to do the align screen. you can skip the rest after you skip it the pocket pc page will come up and it will show you its installing everything when its done it will turn off and start up again. and there you go like new. if that doesnt help the you should go get it checked out..
its prob'ly caused by an app which is not fully compatible with palm os.... remove your mem.card, and sim then, hard reset... thats what i did, my treo 650 kept on restarting after i installed gizmo.... try it and get back to me....
Dhorner64 is incorrect. Your phone is not fried if you are in a restart loop. You need to do a "warm reset" which will not erase data. It is the equivalent of doing a safe boot in Windows. Remove the battery from your 755p, then put it back while holding the up button on the 5-way. Hold the up button as the phone starts. I had to do this frequently, then run the DataViz Tech app, which is available free from DataViz, to fix their prefs file, which was the source of my crashes. The problem was solved by upgrading to Docs2go v11. I was reluctant to pay to upgrade a crashing app, but the upgrade ended the frequent crashes. I have not had a couple resets since upgrading Docs2go, and no reset loops.
I just encountered exactly the same issue. Was using the phone ended the call and was about to place a call when it started the Death Spiral.
All reset options have no effect. Putting the battery in while holding
the sync button will produce a color pattern but no functions are
I did call Palm USA tech support - apparently they are aware of the
issue but have no free solution that they would offer me - for $199 I
could send it to them for repair.
