Under the dash there should be 1 or 2 red wires going into the the 477T, take the fuse out of the holder and try to start your car with the key, if it still doesn't start there might be a start kill relay hooked to the starter look for a small black cube with 4 wires going into it, it will be hooked to your starter wire, if you use a jumper wire and hook it to pin 30 and 87 it will bypass the relay and your car should start

Car shut down , will no start, or reconize remote keypad

check your antenna, should be mounted on the windshield. unplug it for a couple of minutes and then plug it back in, then check the remote. make sure the alarm has power, try putting the alarm in valet mode, if it goes into valet with no problem then the alarm is fine, then you can re-program the remote. if it doesn't go into valet then the problem may be the alarm and not the remote. hope that helps, dave

You have to turn off your ignition and immediately press that 'eraser like button'(valet switch) for a second and release it. Alarm will then come out of valet mode and your remote should work, if it's good.

2002 jeep grand cherokee with valet remote start. when remote start is activated jeep starts then shuts off immediatly

Apart from the inginition wires ( you must check if there are 12 volts), the alarm needs to read the tach reading properly from the car to stay running. If the tach rate is not learned by the system, it will cut out almost immediately. You need to ensure that this tach wire is connected to the tach under the hood. When this has been connected, you need to ensure that the alarm learns the rate. This can be done automatically on some models or manually on others. Ensure that the appropariate wire is connected to your tach wire; it should work properly after that

Try disconnecting the alarm putting in a valet mode and start the vehicle with the car key. If you don’t know how to put in a valet mode, check your alarm manual. After if the car start them the problem is the car alarm, make sure all the doors, trunk, hood are close if still not working check if the hood, trunk switch are working properly.

My valet remote control RPN491 Starts vehiclr and unlocks doors but will not lock doors do I need to reprogram remoteto unlock doors?

Ok you said "unlock doors' but you said it already unlocks the doors. This remote should lock and unlock door on same button, if you are describing the 2 button remote. If it is not then it could be alot of things. Does the alarm lock itself? Does the alarm lock the door when you turn on the ignition? More info is really needed. Like what veh and what model alarm.

Car starter not working

look under the dash for a small silver toggle switch....this is a disable switch for the remote start portion of the system..you may have kicked it / bumped it with your foot, causing the remote start portion to be deactivated. Just flip the switch the opposite way and try again..
Also, there may have been a pin style switch installed under the hood...Check to see if it is bent or broken, if it is, simply disconnect it and insulate the wire that was going to it.
This wire is used as a safety to keep the vehicle from remote starting while the hood is up..to keep people from being injured if the remote start is activated while the engine is being worked on.
Have whatever shop installed the system replace your pinswitch if that is the problem.

You need to first look under the drivers side dash area near the hood release/fuse panel area and see if there is a valet switch. The switch will look like a little toggle or a push switch. After you locate it, turn the ignition switch to the on position(dont start it) and flick the valet to the opposite position it is in now. If done correctly in most cases the red system light will stay a constant instead of off or blinking indicating you are in valet mode. Next try to start the engine. If this doesnt work you need to remove the alarm system and repair the ignition switch wiring or replace the electrical portion of the ignition switch. The aftermarket alarm cuts into the ignition switch wires and bypasses the start circuit through the alarm module. When disarmed the alarm completes the circuit and allows the car to start. Good luck hope this helps and please rate this.
