Hi,

If you live in an high altitude area it can cause a plasma to hum.
Another thing you can try if you don't live in an area like that is using a surge protector. The thing is your power outlet could be sending what's called "Dirty Electricity" to your tv that could be causing it to hum. I would recommend something that does "power filtering" like a Panamax surge or a Monster surge.
So that you get clean power to the tv

Hope my info is useful....
Thanx for using fixya......

    The humming sound is not a problem at all............
    If that sound annoys you then check that with the service center and the inverter present may need to be replaced........

Humming or squealing noise when tv is turned on (model 32LG30)

Be sure you have installed the stand scresw weather or not you are using the stand.
The back panel can vibrate without the screws.

Other sources of a hum are the coils on the power supply.
The power supply would have to be replaced to solve the issue.

Hi, your color wheel needs to be replaced, the bearings fail causing the grinding noise, the new ones use "air bearings" so they are supposed to last much longer, video-tek

Humming

Hi,

More often than not, the humming sound on any electronic device is brought about by the AC side of the power supply not only of the device itself but also all other equipment it is attached to. In your particular case, it maybe introduced into the system from:
  • (coaxial) cable TV leadin;
  • connections of DVD, VCR, game consoles and others;
  • electrical noise from lamp dimmers, lights with electronic ballasts, wireless phones.
It is interesting to note, that the noise could be from other appliances plug in the same circuit as the TV, you of course could try plugging it into another outlet or branch. In some instances, you could even try filtered regulators similar to those used by desktop computers.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Picture went out and all the tv does is make a buzzing sound

The horizontal output transistor drives a transformer that gives you the high voltage to light up the picture tube,either the transistor or the transformer have gone bad,sometimes both have to be replaced and sometimes the transistor fails for no reason by itself.Be safe and call for help if you are not familiar with tv service.
