Packard Bell Easynote L4 turns off after Bios

Hiya, my L4 turns off just after the BIOS screen (can sometimes just glimpse the OS boot menu) with a beep, usually the power LED stays on but the machine is dead. It does this on every switch on. I can enter the BIOS and it runs in there perfectly. I have swapped the memory, removed the HDD and tried to boot from CD, but it just does the same thing. The Battery refresh screen says I have 99% charge, but I know the laptop battery is almost dead as I used to have problems charging the battery, it goes flat quiet quickly! I checked the CMOS battery, seems ok. One thing I find strange is that I have tried before to run the machine without a Battery and it refuses to switch on, not sure if that should happen.

Anyway some help would be appreciated.

I have same problem with the L4, sometimes I get a bit further when booting up and can see windows logo, then the laptop dies. I bought a new charger and it still has same problem. Please help.

SOURCE: Packard Bell Easynote L4 turns off after Bios

I would try a BIOS update first. Go to the manufacturer website and find the BIOS update for your model. Also, you mentioned replacing the memory. Are you positive it is the correct memory? Were you having the problem before you replaced the memory? If you have the wrong memory in a computer it will give a "beep code" and won't boot up.

How do I replace the systembattery from a easynote mz 35-216, or reset the bios.

To reset the BIOS password read the information from this link.

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper and I wouldn't recommend doing it especially if it's under warranty.

HI, Packard Bell Easynote L4, switches off after 5 seconds

no..this is a motherboard issue. if the power won't stay on, even without a battery, then it's the m/b..replacement is a bit dicey, but not impossible. The hard drive with data should be fine.

Easynote will not go past packard bell screen

You may need BIOS update. Check your CMOS time at bios page.
If time is wrong, set it up and try again. If this is solved the problem, change the CMOS battery.
