Question about HP Compaq nx5000 Notebook
My little cousins tampered with my laptop. It was on, i left for a while to get a drink. On returning to the pc, i found that it was requesting for Power ON Password.I shut down the system and turned it back on, the problem still remains the same. The system won't boot.It just displays a blue background with the Power On Password prompt. My aunty told me that the kids were fumbling with the keyboard while i was away and they don't seem to know the keys the pressed. Laptop Details : Compaq nx5000, S/N : CNU4220C3Q , P/N : DV149US#ABA., OS : Windows XP with Service Pack 2. Pls tell me what to do, Im going crazy. My e-mail is: email@example.com.
You have to clear the cmos the setting for this , its better take your laptop to the technician

Power On password is nothing but a hard drive lock password that comes up everytime you try booting the notebook. You have to enter it correctly in order to boot in or even to disable Power On password in BIOS.
You need to take it to the authorised service centre now where they will open up the laptop and CMOS battery (that stores the password) and reseat it. If you can then you can try it but i would suggest do not because the wirings are thin and delicate. Beleive me i have done it. Reseating the CMOS battery or replacing it is the only solution .
