Question about Hoover F7222-900 SteamVac Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Brushes will not spin -- broken part

I have a Hoover F7222-900 Steam Vac Upright vacuum cleaner. The brushes have stopped working. When I pulled the brushes out of the assembly, I noticed that the plastic square peg cracked in half. The other half is stuck in the hole. I can't seem to dis-assemble the vacuum to get the plastic piece out. I pushed it and it went further in the hole.

I realize that I have to replace the brushes because the plastic piece which gets inserted into the hole is broken. Does anyone know how to dis-assemble the vacuum. We've unscrewed all the screws, but it doesn't seem to want to come apart. I'd hate to sent it to the shop when it's just an easy fix.

Did deeper, I finally just fixed mine today, I thought the same thing about it not wanting to come apart, but try one more time, and when your almost done, look underneath there is a long plastic piece with two screws almost side by side towards the front, take them out, remove the two rubber hoses on the top side and remove the turbine, opens real easy and clean it out, then wala it' work again...

How to clean brushes on hoover steam vac?

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

Cleaning the brushes on your unit is a very easy and important tank to do! Your deep cleaner is equipped with removable brushes for easy cleaning. First, make sure to remove the clean water tank and recovery tank to prevent possible leaking. Tilt your unit backwards making sure the handle is in the upright position. Grab the brushes and pull firmly. You may clean the brushes with running water. Do not forget to check the brushes for any tangled hair strands or debris that can prevent the brushes from spinning properly.

Since the Steam Vac does not have any belts... the logical issue is Switch setting (Hi, Low, Off) on the base cover. The only other is dirt collection on the air intake for the brushes (unit uses air passing over plastic fan blades to spin the brushes). To clear the dirt problem, remove the clear plastic cover located just in front of the brush Switch. You can now use your finger nail (or an old tooth brush) to clean the filter screen located just below the Switch. Don't tear it, just gently remove the accumulated dust/hair.
Brushes should spin once you reassemble and power it up!!

Brushes won't spin on hoover steam vac

Hello tmc68cam. Most vacuums have a belt driving the rollers/brushes. Unplug unit and remove the housing screws to view internaly. If a broken belt note your model# and search for a local applance repair shop for a replacement. IF not I will need Mgfr.,model & serial# to research to futher assist in the repair. Good Luck.

Hoover Steam Vac Spin Scrub

Remove the brush block, is the shaft on it or broken off. Replace the block if broken off. Turn unit over, with brush block removed, handle tilted back, is the square hole turning, if not then the turbine is bad, this is what turns the brushes.

If this is a Hoover Steam vac, the turbine which drives the brushes is bad. If not a Hoover, then what is it, they are different, need brand and model number.

brushes do not rotate on Hoover steam-vac upright

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
This also happened to my own Hoover Steam Vac and there was a broken part that connected to the brush assm that I had to replace, it has been a while but once they replaced the part everything worked just fine and it was not that expensive and I am still using the vacuum still to date and it is working just fine. I believe it was something like the switch for the brushes on/off switch or the part was part of the handle assm. Check you owner’s manual for the exploded view on the vacuum or also check with your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

I have the steam vac spinscrub upright. The brushes won't spin anymore.

Have you checked the lint screen? Your brushes are air driven if it's a Hoover Spin Scrub. There is a clear cover on the left side, when facinf from front. Remove this cover, about 3x5 inches and tapered, and clean the screen. Some units have a red or white screen that you can pull out from the bottom of the unit, left side just behind the brush block. Clean the screen then reinstall. Check that recovery tank is properly positioned- lack of seal means less suction which translates to brush block not turning.

Problems with the Hoover Steam vac Heated carpet cleaner

The first thing to check is the filter on the inside of the lid to the recovery tank, if it is all of the way up to the top, it can cause variouys problems, it should have a 1/4 in gap from the top. The other thing is the turbine, that is what drives the brushes. If the brush block is ok, then most likely the turbine is bad and will ahve to be replaced. Part # for the turbine is 43191006 and sells for about $60.

This happens when the filter on the inside of the lid for the dirty water tank is pushed all of the way up. You need to leave a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter.
