My sony kd36fs130 wont turn on .the green power light clicks then the light dims ans I can hear a tv coming on sound but stops when the light dims

From your description the flyback transformer has failed causing the high voltage to load down, if the TV is 10 years old or more, consideration should be given investing in a new set.

Power died. TV was running then there was a short hiss followed by a pop and the tv died. Is it just a power unit problem. ie like replacing a computer CPU when it dies.

No,more complicated than that. The whole 2 ICS set of chips, must be replaced, near the FBT-the Flyback transformer, that the big block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook into the CRT-(tv tube). The out wall of the FBT-the flyback transformer the "H" horizontal transistor output probally dead too.Require replacing too.Now analongue tvs are defective, components parts are not much available anymore,if the analogue tvs are more than five years old.Time to upgraded to a HD tvs.

Yes.Take the tv aparts resolder the FBT-the flyback tranformer, that the big black block of plastic with a red wire with a cap hook to a CRT-(tv tube). Also resolders the video board, that the board connect to the CRT-(tv tube) those pins sockets keep the video board and the CRT-(tv tube) together.Tv should be working again,if get these two soldering places parts resolders,FBT-resolders for stable tv high voltage.Video board pins sockets resolders for better joints connections between the video board and the CRT-(tv tube) connections.

It won't turn on. The TV has been intermitant for a about a week.

Hi.

Try first leaving the TV disconnected from power for several hours. Also test on a different main, eventually using an extension.
If the problems started intermittently last week, then there is probably a fault.

If there is no power at all it is a faulty power supply.
If the TV instead is in standby, then the set must be tested to find the fault.
Common faults may concern convergence, PSU, ballast board, control and signal I/O.

Here all parts for your set.

JVC tv shut off and won't come back on

It is a power supply problem. As your set is nine years old all the electrolytic capacitors at the power supply area may be out of range. If you are not familiar with electronic repairs it is bettter to take to service center to check and decide according the cost you will asked.

The high voltage circuit also runs the horizontal deflection circuit and much of the rest as well. The horizontal problems you describe were a prelude to high voltage failure. If the TV is anywhere near 10 years old (how come you guys never give the age????) it isn't worth the cost of overhauling the high voltage circuit. You might be able to replace just the H.O.T. but the flyback is the source of the failure.

RCA 32v524t

Hello All,

This is a flyback problem. Thomson will not honor the installation neither will RCA. This has been going on for years. RCA and Thomson technically parted company a few years ago, but because RCA still uses Thomson parts they often have problems getting these parts when they fail, so RCA leaves it up to the TV owner to get the set repaired at a third party shop. In addition to this the Thomson parts only have a 1year warranty from the date of manufacture of the set, so it is possible for you to buy a RCA TV with Thomson parts that are out of warranty before you take it out of the store. Sad but true, the only recourse is to try to get RCA to service the set, provided that it malfunctions within the first year of purchase. I would suggest that you all take these TVs to a qualified TV repair shop to get them repaired, however, make sure the shop uses the exact OEM parts (This is important) because there are parts that come close to the original, but you or the TV shop would have to spend hours adjusting focus and screen voltages to allow the new part to work.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Shuttle83

Tv is completely dead

Only 10 years old??? Ok its most likly at the end of its usefull life, unless you want to put some cash into the set, as there are no user replaceable parts inside this TV, so you really should let a trained tech estimate it for you. But once you fix it, you most likly will start have problem after problem. Do yourself a favor, and buy a new one. The problem with this set is most likly the flyback and other componets or the power supply capacitors are bad.

Lynda, could be why someone was selling it? It could have a bad connection inside the set somewhere that needs to be addressed asap as it will get worse, or a power regulator is bad. This will oneday make the set not turn on anymore without a repair job. Also make sure the outlet your pluging it into isent loose. Sorry i couldnt assist you more with this. Good Luck
