Question about Goodman GMS90703BXA Heater

Thermostat Goodman Furnace MBR1200AA-1. It has not got a air conditioner or heat pump, just heater coils. All of the electric is hooked up and my thermostat but nothing happens. My old thermostat is a 2 wire. Do I need a different thermostat and wire set up? If so what do I need to get.

My problem is solved! My furnace needed a 24volt signal coming from the thermostat to my contacts on my heater coils in order for them to pull in. I went to Home Depot and got me a ritetemp programmable thermostat for the signal and ran a new 5 wire cord from it down to my furnace. Granted I only needed three wires to make it function, but I now have the rest when I do add on an air conditioner and heat pump. I was missing the loop for my heater relay in the third wire over my 2 wire set up I originally had. Once I hooked that up everything worked great. Thanks for your help and support.

Are you saying no lights on the control board light up as well? If so, check the door switch, Emergency switch, breaker and lastly, the power to the furnace. If you can see a light but the system is not working, check for any error code (flashing) and look at the wiring diagram on the back of the service door. Also, there is a small fuse that you may want to inspect. If you do have a light on, jump out R and G on the control board and make sure you push in on the door safety switch. Let us know what you discover!

I JUST BOUGHT THIS UNIT IT HAS THE OUTSIDE UNIT AND THE INSIDE UNIT AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAT PACKS IN THE INSIDE HANDLER IS FOR EMERGENCY HEAT ONLY...IS THIS TRUE?

Yes, if you are talking about a heat pump. It you have an electric furnace inside, the electric elements are for emergency heat. Otherwise, unless you switch it manually at the thermostat, the heatpump (outdoor unit) will run all year around. If you want to use your inside heater (electric heater) just switch your thermostat to "emergency heat" and it will turn on the electrical elements instead of the outdoor unit. This way will make your elec. bill higher tho. The heat pump is much more efficient. Hope this helps you , have good day

I have a Goodman Electric furnace, Model AR 30-1 that is not putting out enough heat. Could it be that the heating coil is going out? Air from ducts is lukewarm at best.

There are more than one set of electric coils in these units. You can test each one with an amprobe to see which one has no flow. Than it is a matter of finding out why. Sequencers stagger the starting order of coils in electric furnaces, could have one of several other issues!

My son has a Goodman Manufacturer Corp Heat Pump/air conditioner. Forced air I believe. The air conditioner quit. A repairman indicated that in order to replace the air conditioner the furnace will have to...

I don't see any reason to change the furnace unless it's an air handler and not a furnace with a coil on top or bottom. And then, the only reason to change the inside unit when you change the outside unit is because it's a R-22 system and your going back with a 410A system. They just discontinued R-22 equipment this year and not a lot are still available. But even if that's the case, the only thing they should have to replace is the coil and maybe the copper line set. That's all I can think of. Hope this helps!

What is the difference between stage two and aux heat?

The furnace shoud be wired to W1 amd EM Heat. If your heater is a two stage furnace then hook the thermostat W1 to stage 1 amd W2 to stage 2. Most new 2 stage heaters will control stage 2 with the control board.

Goodman GPM075-3 air conditioning connections

your thermostat powers 'Y' for cooling. That in your case blue wire connects to 'Y' on the control board in the furnace. Then a pair of low-voltage wires connects 'Y' and 'C' on the furnace to the two wires to the coil of the contactor in the a/c condensing unit. So to follow the path, the signal wire from the thermostat sends 24v down the Y wire to the furnace board Y terminal which also connects to one side of the contactor coil in the air conditioner. To complete the control circuit to the air conditioner there has to be a common wire. This is connecting the C wire from the furnace board to the other side of the contactor in the air conditioner. Hope this helps.

I have a Goodman electric furnace model ARUF049-00A-1. It seems to run constantly and emits an odor of sewer through the air ducts

Can you view inside to the electic heaters and ensure they are clean? On rare occasions, insulation from furnace or attic believe it or not gets into furnace and gets cought up in the coils. It could possibly ruin your sequencers, you'll have to have a tech replace those.
