Gateway dx4840-11e. During video can hear music but not actor voices. What to do?

do you have the sound set to surrond sound? What it sounds like is that it is trying to play through surrond speakers but you dont have them, which is why you can hear the music and not the actors voices. click with the right mouse button on the speaker in the bottom right of your screen, then click on sounds , now click on the playback tab in the sound window, click on the sound device shown and then click configure, choose stereo and choose two speakers. Continue to the end then try to play the video and see if you can now hear the voices. If you cant then you maybe missing codecs needed to play the audio correctly. Please state if this is a movie you have downloaded or a dvd film on disc etc

I am unabul to play mkv fils

You can install Leawo Free MP4 Converter, when you install it, it will ask you to install a codec package, after you finish it. you can convert your video to MP4 format easily, or just watch your MKV video with Windows Media Player.

I cant open the videos

your OS hasn't got the codecs needed for playing different video.
but you can download this software for playing any type of audio and video.
LINK:
1- go to: free-codecs.com
2- search this :
K-Lite Codec Pack 6.7.0 Full
3- download and install it.
4- use it's "media player classic" for playing.

Burn to disc dialog box does not asaear when inserting dvd

you most likely dont have the mpeg 2 codec
i heavily advise caution if trying to download this codec i have reformated my system 2 times trying to find a non trojaned mpeg-2 codec
so just buy one its worth it in the long run

next up right click on the dvd drive and check your autoplay options to make shur that feature is enabled for the drive
once again thats
right click drive ?>properties>autoplay tab
it could also be a setting in your burning utility try going to properties in there aswell
good luck to yah

Are you using the DIVX Codec for watching these downloaded movies? Go into the configuration of the decoder, find the 'deblocking' setting and change it to "none".

No sound when playing dvds

This is very likely a codec problem. A codec is a software component used with video and audio players that translates the electronic media file into something that can be displayed. Most of the time, the video codec will be out of date and you'll hear the audio but not see any video. You've got the reverse problem, obviously.

Unfortunately, Microsoft does not make this easy. Even the latest download of codecs from Microsoft doesn't necessarily update the Windows Media Player to play any DVD. You will need to do a codec search and download the latest. Last time I checked, 'download.com' had them available (this is CNet's download website). Good luck!

Windows media player

To Update Your Windows Media player download the K-Lite codex which will come with its own player and its better than VLC player, the only advantage VLC has is that one can easily integrate subtitles of all formats, other than that K-Lite is better. Hope it helps, Goodluck =)
