MSI 694D Pro AR and Sony Supressa

By Bouncy - usenet poster

Anyone know of a problem with the Sony Spressa CD-RW on the IDE ATA66
channel on the MSI 694D Pro -AR with CD Extreme installed in Windows
2000 Server?????

I keep getting a PX Engine Error -8 when I try to burn a CD-ROM..I
e-mailed Sony Spressa Tech support with no answerAnyone else seen
this???

I tried another CD-RW and I get the same message. The Cd-ROM works
great within windows, reads and plays normal CDs just fine, but I can
not burn CD-ROMS!!!! Help?

Thanks,
Chako

Have you tried:

Lots of info on CD-R-W there.

My HP 9100 wasn't behaving either in the beginning, burning at 2x and I
understand they are Sony engines.

HP told me to try PIO 3 or 4.

But my problem solved itself when I got rid of the VIA Busmaster drivers and let
Win98 handle it.

Wowever, yours is a different MoBo & OS.

Good Luck.

Problem is sometimes caused if you have dma enabled with bus master drivers.
Try dropping back to standard windows drivers with the drive set to pio. If
it works you will need 4.29 drivers that allow you to select pio for the
drive rather than dma.
