Polaroid TLU 03711C - HD LCD flatscreen TV 37

I have got a Polaroid TLU 03711C - HD LCD flatscreen TV 37".

every time i turn the tv on, its make a high pitch buzzing sound, this will continue for up to half hour slowly fading out. if i turn my tv off, then back on this will happen again, every time.

when i have turned the tv on and its is buzzing if u turn down the volume, the buzzing will remian, however if u put the tv on mute the buzzing will dissapear.

i think this mite be related to my xbox 360, altho if nothing is plugged into the tv this will still happen.

I think it mite be related because if u have left the tv on for a hour and the buzzing has died down, then u put the tv onto HDMI1 (xbox channel) u can still hear the buzzing.

Also if i try and turn my tv onto channel HDMI1 (xbox) within the first minute of turning it on the tv crashes and i have to turn it off at the plug.

I have bin told i need a replacement 'main board' is this the case?

and what is the actual problem? and is it related to xbox? (altho when i didnt have xbox plugged in, problem persisted!)

thanks

I have the same exact problem! also sometimes it wont turn on unless i unplug and retry

There is a high pitch beeping / buzzing tone which eventually fades away after about 5 minutes. The sound stops when the TV is muted but it doesn't make it go away, it simply comes back when the sound is turned back on. I found a quick solution is to turn the sound up on the TV which sort of overrides the tone, but this isn't really a work around.

I have read that it's something to do with a capacitor which has blown, however I have no ideahow to replace such an item so I will be calling local TV repair firms.

I wrote a guide on how to fix this problem. It's really easy to do and only costs £1 (about $1!). You can view, download and print the guide here - http://www.scribd.com/doc/13515584/Polaroid-TLU03711C-Replace-Capacitors-Guide

I have 2 poloroid 37" (TLU-03711C) lcd tv's both

You seem to have a few possible problems with these TVs. I've fixed a few Polaroids and most seem to have similar problems. First off, you need to give a little bit more info about your problem.
If your TV's blue LED power light comes on, but you get no picture (a completely dark screen), this is likely a problem with your Power board. You can try looking for bad capacitors (bulging from either the top or bottom) or burn marks on the bottom of the board.
If you are tech savvy, you may want to use a multimeter and check voltages on the main transistors, but only do this if you have experience. Alternatively you could order a replacement power supply, but only do this if you are sure the power board is the only problem. ShopJimmy.com has a variety of replacement parts for a reasonable price. You should be able to find your power board for $50-$100.
If you are getting absolutely no LEDs or lights at all when its plugged in, then you might have a blown fuse. The fuse is a small red/orange cylinder. If you had a surge, you could just replace the fuse, but if it happened under normal working conditions, most likely something is causing it and would cause it again, if you replaced the fuse.
Now in addition, your video board may have been damaged by a defective power board. If you experience odd problems like a scrambling screen, freezing, or weird color changes it may indicate a problem with the video board or it may just be the unstable power being supplied from the power board.
There is also a small possibility that one or more of the your backlights are not functioning properly. This is less likely, but still a possibility. In some cases its repairable, but if it requires a replacement of the LCD panel, then it's not worth it.
Anyways, hopefully that gives you some insight in possible problems.

Buzzing sound after only 2-1/2 years of service

I suspect you have a bad set of capacitors in the control module. This problem usually starts out as a high pitched noise but can lead to the TV not turning on. Please see the link below, posted by StivO. It gives step by step instructions on how to replace the capacitors. This is a very inexpensive fix.

High pitched noise

I am about to post a in depth guide about how to fix this problem. It's because a capacitor inside the TV has blown which causes the buzzing high pitched noise. It's really easy to fix however and only costs about £1 / $2 to sort out.

You can read a similar guide here http://www.fixya.com/support/r741402-polaroid_flm_373b_lcd_tv_black_screen but I will shortly be uploading a guide on the buzzing problem!

High pitched noise

The power supply is starting to fail on your LCD. The noise you hear is because the circuit is trying to provide the proper power to the rest of the circuitry and is forcing itself.
The noise does increase if you tune to an HD channel because of more demand for power for a brighter picture.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
