Question about RCA G36705 36" TV

Guide Plus This message appears on my guide plus screen. We are sorry that your televison is not able to receive data to update your guide plus listings. One likely reason is your cable company has blocked the information contained in the tv signal. Call 888 to voice your complaint. This phone number is to meet and talk with sexy women. Time Warner said this is an RCA problem and not them. How can this be corrected?

    HELP..!! I have called the cable company and they tell me they are not blocking the data signal. I tried calling the 888 #, but it is not accessible from my calling area. My guide has always worked until this past week after a cable outage that lasted for several hours.

Called the cable company..they said they don't block the signal. sooooo..

first..i unplugged the tv from the power source, and unplugged the cable from the wall. left both off for an hour, and reconnected power and cable.

entered the guide set up...changed the zip code from the area where i actually live to the zip code of the cable provider for my area. here on maui, there is only one provider.

used the editor in guide plus to turn on and off the channel line-up according to the published channels listed in my area tv guide.

24 hours later...voila..!! it WORKS..!! good luck..!!

Channel 7 states it is showing The Chase today 12May but TV Guide when pressed does not show any The Chase


Shedules change I would think plus I would think an element of lazy and bone idle is creeping in, saw it in the early colour TV years when Teletext made its debut. At first hailed as a breakthrough for information and updates of all sorts, later it began to break down as more and more data was loaded on and tired little backroom workers could not keep up with changes!
Now its data plus so many channels, on earlier digital equipment (starved of cpu speed and memory for cost) it used to often update this data very quickly, as more channels grew it became an anchor slowing equipment down. Now I see some sets do not update as often or only when a user requests it (while you wait) just to keep that set working in other functions plus to save energy and make it look good.
I would think this problem will get worse as more channels are added and schedules checked or altered before release along with the fact they are possibly broadcast in bursts not as a constant stream (no doubt some techy can verify this) otherwise it would use up limited resources.
No doubt there will be a new version created like the old TV's Fasttext service, most written listings are to me only a guide as to what might be shown not set in stone as they very long ago once might have been.

Our Guide Plus shows no listings. We have gone


This is For Guide Plus that comes with ATI TV Tuners

I got this in an e-mail from Macrovision and IT WORKS!!!
I deleted the files they said, and got a new error message, so I reinstalled Guide plus, left out that step, and GUIDE PLUS IS BACK!!

Please try belows instructions to see if that helps. Please back up any data and registry before going forward. We take no responsibility for any wrong doing. Please follow instructions carefully.
1. Delete all files in these directories:
C:\Program Files\Gemstar\GUIDE PLUS+(TM)\ATI\download
C:\Program Files\Gemstar\GUIDE PLUS+(TM)\ATI\panelad

2. Go to the computer's registry:
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GEMSTAR\ETV\URL
Find the strings:
"1"

Have Warning message on DVD 'Your Guide Plus has not received TV Listings. Check your host channel.' What do I do?


Symptoms / Customer Description
TV Guide issues.
Example:
1. Not getting the correct info, or no information.
2. TV Guide giving double channels.
3. TV Guide grid comes up but no information.
[Primary Symptom Code: 118X ]

Solution

TV Guide information comes from the Host Station.

1. If no information on some channels or incorrect information not TV issue, but station not giving any information or incorrect information.

2. If grid comes up, but no TV Guide Info could be
siginal issue.

3. Double stations showing up. Unfortunately double listing is the way it's going to be. They have to send out all possible OTA listings for the area. You can hide the channels that you are not getting.

For these type of issues
Please have the customer call our Customer Support Line 800-222-7669
Our Call Center Rep. will fill out an investigation form with data pulled from the TV. These reports will be sent to Gem Star for their investigation, and the Call Center will get
back to the customer.

Not receiving guide plus + tv listing -no problem until 2 weeks


I called TimeWarner Cable tech support, and the solution is to unplug the power to the box, after 1 min plug back in, let the box reboot, and PRESTO, this time around, the guide should be working.
Note--this is a solution for the problem of online guide that is showing No Data in the boxes, but is bringing up the grid of times/channels/date.
If you can't get the Guide at all, I don't know if this solution works.

Guide Plus on RCA television


My guide quit working also on my RCA 61" big screen and I called the cable company and he said something about the encryption data had changed and I needed to call RCA to find out what to do and the whole time trying to sell me a converter box. It is the cable company's fault or the guide wouldn't have put that message up to start with. We all need to call the FCC!!!

Can't get the Guide Plus screen to go away


Try these options

Option A:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select Setup.
Select Options.
Select Off.

Option B:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select GUIDE Plus+™ Auto Display from the GUIDE Plus+ menu.
Select Off.

Option C:
Press GUIDE on your remote control.
Select the Menu bar.
Press the right arrow button to select Setup.
Choose Review Options.
Select Off.

Guide Plus Gold service on a 2000 Zenith TV


I have an RCA televison with Guide Plus Gold and it works great. I am not sure about the Zenith and how it works on it. When I turn on the TV with the remote the guide comes up on screen. I just have to press the guide button on the remote to remove that screen and watch the show. If I don't press anything it will go off after 2 minutes. If you have never set up the guide it will probably show up all the time. You will have to go through and program it so it will know if you have cable, over the air or satelite. I don't have satelite service so I don't know if it will reconize it. I know it works with over the air and cable.
