Question about Night Vision & Thermal Optics

Electrical fault on touch sensitive bed side lights

We have 2 bed side lamps fitted in each of 2 bedrooms. They are all of the touch sensitive switching type, fitted with conventional tungsten bulbs and provide a range of light intensity from low to medium to high.
They were all purchased from B&Q stores about 18 months ago and have been problem free until last month.
Recently they have dispalyed erratic behaviour of self illuminating and sequentially flashing without any human or physical contact. In one instance all four lamps were flashing simultaneously.
I suspected the cause to be an electricity power surge and fitted an inline power surge protector to the lamps. This device has been unsuccessful as the problem has occured again.
Another solution would be to fit in-line off/on switches but before doing that I would like to know if you have a better solution.
Thank you in anticipation
Ben

My touch sensitive bedside lights turn on by themselves, sometimes because a ceiling fan in an adjacent room has been switched.

    Any suggestions?

Ok the problem you are experienceing is cause from supernatural forces dwelling in you abode. to solve this problem and remove any spirits you must...
Open all windows and doors.
Burn some sage in a shell and fan the sage smoke in all the corners of every room, hallway and closet.
Urge the spirts to leave peacefully and move on into the light.
Repeat in every room.
Close windows

You have now "smudged" your house and it is spiritually clean.

The voltage should be good. It is possible the Infra-red emitter tube might be at fault.

The night vision can work under a full moon, so test the vision part to make sure it is working correctly. If you have an infra red/IR remote control for your TB set, you can test the might vision using that remote to see if the night vision is working.

You can use a second working unit to see if the illuminator is actually working. The illumination is not visible light without assistance.

I have an ATN MK238 that will power up, like the power LED will come on, but the screen will not power up when you look into the reticle. I checked the tube by unscrewing the front lens and it is a uniform...

Hello, it has a none functioning image intensifier tube, or shorted ccfl. All the electronic components are manufactured in Russia. Does this let you know what wrong with you ATN MK238 scope now...it's cheap. I don't fix these ATN MK-258 anymore, it to hard to find parts. ATN is no help, they won't sell parts. It will have to be sent to ATN for repairs at approx. $200+ for repairs. I do have a couple of Russian image intensifier tubes, that work. The last MK238 I repaired, I had to build a ccfl (cold cathode flourscent Lamp) inverter, replace the coil and voltage multiplier, and fit in a confine space with insulation from electric arcing.

Here is infor for you. The ccfl can be purchased. They are companys that will make you a voltage multipliers. So, here is information: voltage to ccfl (6 volts) then the voltage goes in the inverter
to convert it switching DC voltage (5.5 volts). Then the coil (transformer) step it ot about 930 voltage to the voltage multiplier (which has four stages---the first stage with double the voltage to 1860 volt to the second stage which double it, then third stage which double it, then finally to fourth stage which doubles the third stage to about 15KV (hight voltage here, it will bit ya here, but no current--amps.) this will the cathode on iit, then light up the tube 18mm film that is coated--it will turn green)

Now, this the simplies way of tube operation, it more complex than that. The power supply for this Russian image inten. tube is sealed in dielectric jell, and the voltage multiplier is sealed in epoxy with the tube are none repairable.

There are quit a few other NV companies, that use Russian tubes and electronic. They cheap but functional. The bottom line here is the profit. Don't get me wrong here. There a few Russian compies that make some very good gen 2 tubes. If you can replace the tube will gen 2 tubes and powere supply. I hope this helps, Richard.

Kello, so you been using you scope on peep holes, hey. I don't know what peep looks like. I see them. Sir, have you been looking at bright light in bedrooms or in the dark? I would think that your ITT Mariner has a loose wire, bad solder joint, wigjt are loose...dad news those wigit. It probably a loose wire. If it continues there is a good possiblity it with quick working. If you know someone that work on this thing, see what they can do. stewbison

Hello Here Night Owl Optics owner manual web site for your monocular: http://www.nightowloptics.com/documents/NexGenMonoMULTImanual.pdf

One more thing. DO NOT LOOK THROUGH NV MONOCULAR DURING THE DAY, OR LOOK AT BRIGHT LIGHTS. This will destroy the image intensifier tube. Bright lights will make it go south faster than Speedy Roadrunner. I need parts if the image tube is gone. Night Owl Optics in El Paso, TX will charge you about $200 plus parts and shipping to repair it. So, listen no looky at bright lights in the neighbor bedroom window, hey. GB...stewbison

The power light comes on but I have no image.

Hello - nice looking scope and with 100 % rave reviews.
Not much to adjust really - cover off , battery inserted , turn on - adjust brightness. IR illuminator on'off.
I've just read through page 5 on user manual - at least they have a 2 yr warrantee and some phone numbers to get support.
Here is user manual / guide + trouble shooting tips. http://www.nightvisiongear.com/documents/Aries390PaladinNightVisionRifleScope.pdf
A simple test is looking at a distant street light - just incase the 'amplifier' is very sensitive. (that causes BLACK spots) .
If the amp is damaged , they would have a test -- Ray

Our touch sensitive lamp no longer responds to touch

The sensors do not wear out as such, the fault probably is in the electronics and you should not attempt a repair unless you are suitably qualified as mains voltages are involved.
