Hi

If your mouse has a switch try turning it off and then back on. Else connect an external mouse via the USB port or any other port and reinstall the driver for the mouse using the driver recovery installation CD you were provided with, Go to control panel to do so. That should do the job.

You should not have any reason for turning it off except if you have a mouse connected. If you have a mouse connected and you turn the touchpad off, the mouse is now your primary device until the next restart. Technically you are suppose to use one or the other not both at the same time.

Touch pad not working not sure if correct driver is instslled or a mechanical issue.

I'm assuming this is a laptop and not a desktop, since I've never seen a touch pad on a desktop....but unless you've had some work done to it in the past...i.e. new keyboard/hdd/memory where it could have been disconnected from the logic board, your touch pad has gone bad, and will need to be replaced...or you can pick up a much cheaper mouse and use with the unit.

Mouse pad not working

A mouse pad is a thing you put your mouse on....

now what you are talking about is your touchpad.

Check these first:

  • some laptops have a switch that turns off the touch pad (usually a button right on the topside of the touchpad)
  • did you reboot completely? full shutdown, then power on?
  • goto the device manager (with a usb mouse of course) and find the touchpad... delete the device... then reboot again it should try and find the touchpad and ask for the driver, point it to the directory that you have the driver located.
good luck!

Mouse cursor jumping uncontrollably all over screen.

Your touch pad drivers need to be installed. Power off the laptop. Install an external mouse, power back on and install drivers. When finished, power down, remove the external mouse and reboot.

Did it work before? What was changed since? If it did, does a mouse work? If so, goto system and uninstall the pad, reconnect the pad and reboot. Driver may have been corrupted.
