Question about GE WSXH208A Front Load Washer

GE WSXH208A Front Load Washer drum not spinning

I just received a new washer and dryer tonight as a "housewarming" gift. They are matching GE front loading units. I believe that the washer is a WSXH208A. Don't have the manual in front of me fight now. I tried to wash the first load tonight and about 3 or 4 minutes into the wash cycle, the machine stopped and the start / pause button started blinking. I've been here for HOURS reading all of the similar reports, but none quite match my problem. I have ensured that the water is on. I have ensured that the drain as well as the filter are not clogged. The hose is not kinked. As a matter of fact, the water will drain / pump out fine. The drum just will not spin. When I turn the unit on, I can hear the pump running, but the drum will not turn now. It did for the first several munites, but now nothing.

I can manually spin the drum freely, but it will not turn on it's own. I did open the rear and make sure that the belt was not broken or slipping or off. All was fine with it. The motor does not seem to be running.

Since this was a gift, I don't know where to take it back to and don't want to ask where it was purchased or how much they spent for it. I don't have the receipt, but I do still have the box.

Any ideas? Before I have to embarrass myself and my friends by asking for a receipt?

Oh, I also forgot to mention that YES, I did remove the shipping screws before I attempted to use the washer.

OOPS! I posted the wrong model number. I had to go look at the box. It is a wcvh6800jbb. SORRY for the confusion. It's 4:00 am not and I'm going to bed.

    Please help!

    Thanks!

Not much sleeping today. I only dreamed about working on this washer for about 3 hours. Ha ha ha

I checked, double and tripple checked the socket connections. All were fine. With the front panel off to check the connections, I can hear a VERY high pitched, almost inaudible whine when I assume that the motor should be running. I think this may be coming from a power supply or transformer in there. I'm not sure if that tells me anything, but I am throwing in the towel.

Someone is coming to look at it tomorrow. I called GE rather than taking it back to a store, so that I didn't have to ask for a receipt. Hopefully that will save everyone some headache and embarrassment. I'll post what they find here.

    Thanks!

The service guy came today. I wasn't home, but my wife says that he tested the machine and said that it was a bad PC board. It must have been bad from the factory, because it never washed one load.

He ordered the part and is coming back on Monday or Tuesday to install it.

    Thanks for the reply tresilla!

I found the solution to clean the lint filter on the GE Adora. Go tohttp://www.instructables.com/id/GE-Adora-Lint-Filter-Cleanout/?download=pdf

Ijust did this and my washer is now running instead of the flashingstart/pause and door unlocking. It was fairly easy. Make sure you havetowels and a flat pan to catch the water if you don't have the machineon a riser. There may be water inside so a wet vac may be helpful too.Once my washer finishes what was in it, I have these funky towels toclean. You'll be very surprised what you find in the filter! Best ofluck!

Sleep tight!
all you can really do is to make sure the motor plug and socket electrical connection is fully home - may have been dislodged in transit.

GE front load washer will not complete the rinse & spin cycle

1) 1st check the filter under the machine (it unscrews behind the access panel 2) open front door and pull back the rubber membrane to see metal and clean out the debris blocking drain holes 3) remove the drain hose from the machine (spring clip) and try and run water thru it and keep blowing out the junk and re-attach 4) run the machine thru 2 cleaning cycles w/bleach and without bleach 5) start using less detergent

Speed wash will not spin drum to wash clothes

I had the same problem. The pump is not pumping out the water, thus stopping the spin. Take off your pump (located under the washer in the front right) and look inside to see if there is any junk stopping the plastic spinner to spin. Clean out really good along with the attached hoses. Replace (tricky!) and try the washer!

Mine kept stopping mid cycle also, pouring water on the floor, then the start/pause button flashed and the door unlocked. I found the solution to clean the lint filter on the GE Adora. Go to http://www.instructables.com/id/GE-Adora-Lint-Filter-Cleanout/?download=pdf
