    Hi Cammykins

Thanks for the response and the useful information on the "Rainbow Effect" (I also have an LCD for the kids gaming solution but will try to stray away for DLP for my home theatre ;-)).

This problem started recently, so I will take a photo this evening and send it through to illustrate the exact effect and maybe you can assist from there....

The replacement for this project is now the Infocus X10. Would you recommend this projector or rather recommend an LCD or Plasma TV?

    Many thanks

    Hi Cammykins

I spoke to a few people and they mentioned that the effect that my projector is producing is called "solarisation" or "over-exposure". Do you have any solutions apart from replacing the entire mainboard?

Please look at the face and the shirts - it has the golden look - "solarisation"

What you are experiencing is call the RBE also known as "Rainbow Effect" for long. You are experiencing what only a small percentage of people do which stirs them over to LCDs, that is until the back lighting of LED became available for the DLP technology [that is the chip inside of your projector which creates the black and white image, the color wheel spins with a few differ segments of color super fast which can create a vertigo affect to some people making them dizzy and either separately or combined you can also see an outline of a bright color full line around every object on your projector or tv set.

There is NO fix for this since it's an older generation that they have now fixed with different lighting and technology to decrease those problems.

Here is an example of how it works: http://www.ausmedia.com.au/DLP_Sensitive.htm

I have also worked for a projector manufacturer and sold electronics online at one point a while back. This was something I've experienced and other people have complained about--until now!

check out LED back lighting in some pjs or tv panels. It might be a great chance to upgrade. Nothing wrong with your pj just your eyes to the technology. I have bad stigmatism [spelling?] with my eye sight which creates this problem for me.

Let me know what you think or how things go for you.

there is a colorwheel inside the dlp projector that spins and the light shines through the colored lenses on the wheel, onto a dmd board, and reflected out through the lens. however, if the wheel motor is bad and won't spin, the light won't even turn on. i recommend replacing the colorwheel

The projector would not turn on and had a flashing red light for the lamp. Knowing it was an older projector when we rented the building I purchased a new bulb for this projector. When I put the new bulb...

PROBLEM :-The power supply of the projector is faulty there is a transistor witch is switch 15 volts for the lamp drive board.

SOLUTION: Remove the upper cover with 6 screws back side of the projector.
remove main board and lamp cover with 7 screws.(show in the picture)
remove upper cover of the power supply and lamp drive unit with 3 screws.
remove power supply unit with 4 screws and 3 connectors and put face down on the table.
now you find the transistor no Q107 and replace with the transistor no 2SB710 is and surface mounted compunent(show in the picture)
fix it all as you open.
power ON the projector and enjoy

(doing very carefully This is a technical job)

I have a screenplay 5000 the projector comes on but shows no picture, also it makes noises coming from the front left side

if you are behind the projector and it is facing away from you then it could be the lamp blower under the power supply which would be on the right side rear, or one of the 2 fans on the right side. now if you are facing the projector the fan on the right would be the lcd blower fan. you need to make sure your lamp is even lit and then post your problem. this can be done by looking into the lens from the side. a more accurate description of the problem can better help me.

Hi, From your description/post, I will assume that it is a mechanical problem rather than electronic (since it is still working though blurry). If you would like to try and fix it yourself, you have to disassemble the focus mechanism of the lens. This should be rotatable to enable you to adjust the focus on different distances to the screen. This would require that you use some tools and extreme care specially in the alignment and position of the various parts. It operates in principle like the adjustable focus of the manual film type cameras, speaking of which you might find that a camera repair man in your area might be able to do the job for you. Good luck and kind regards.
