Start menu, right click my computer, manage, device manager, check if the base system device or unknown device has a yellow question mark next to it, if so download the correct driver from dell.coms support/downloads section, yuo will need to select your model and operating system.

Installing internal dell m90 smart card reader

You have to take apart a good portion of the laptop to reach the Smart Card Reader spot. You need to turn off the computer, unplug the AC power and remove the battery first. Make sure that you are grounded to the computer. Then remove your optical drive and the hinge cover. Next you remove the mini-card antennas either from the mini-card or their secure spot, display assembly, the keyboard and the palm rest. Then you can reach the screw for the smart card reader and the place on the motherboard where the smart card reader connects.
The full set of steps and pictures is available from the Dell support site, http://www.dell.com/support/Manuals/us/en/19/product/precision-m90 . See the Workstation Service Manual. The direct link to the English version is ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_precision_mobile/precision-m90_service%20manual_en-us.pdf . There are multiple pages you need to follow.
I hope this helps.

SMART CARD AUTHENTICATION no smart card reader found

I'm only guessing here, but did you set it up for Smart Card Authentication? If so I guess if the card reader hardware fails then so does Authentication unless replaced. Anyway I'm keen to hear the perfect solution for your Laptop problem.

Schlumberger Reflex USB v.2 Smart Card Reader Driver

i dont think there is one after XP. gemalto havnt bothered with it. some usb smart card readers were included with some usb keyboards on some pc makers like Dell its possible that the drivers for these might also work for the reflex one you have. but its also likely they will not load. you could try either a dell or hp smart card usb driver. you also have to turn on smart card reading service in the OS. Hardware specs for a dell latitude d620

try here for the specs, manuals (including service manual) and drivers for your laptop

http://support.ap.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=au&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=LATITUDE%20D620&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

be aware that building a laptop the way major companies do is to add all the wiring for all options before it's finally put together so the plugs and sockets are there in case they are required.

please take a moment to rate this solution thanks

Dell e1505 SD card reader issue

You installed the driver for your card reader for the laptop. If its not recognizing any cards you put in there then that means the reader is bad and since that is integrated onto the motherboard, replacing the motherboard would be the only option in order to fix that problem.
