now that you mention you have vista.. you may want to think twice about using office 2000 on your vista system as technically what you're trying to do can create a lot of issues (and you're witnessing one) http://forums.techguy.org/business-appli... but on the other hand there's a possibility that it could work, in fact ms indicated that you could run office 2000 in vista http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932087 but they also advise there is not support if any problems were to arise, so try the following but don't forget to back up your data first and create a system restore before you try anything... and again, you may want to get office 2003 as it won't give you much issues (if any at all) when working with vista.

you can try the solutions on this kb:

I would try http://support.microsoft.com/kb/237294/ (I noted below some of the steps with link to instructions on what steps to follow in windows vista as it may be different)

    1. click ignore and see if office 2000 works, if not

2.I would try to do the installation in safe mode:

    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows...

    3. try to register the file manually (use at your own risk)

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2056399_manually... if not

4.(use at your own risk) You need to first copy MSREPL40.DLL from a working system running Windows 2000, XP or vista into the C:\Windows\System32 directory on your vista system. Then try reinstalling Office 2000....

try that and post back if any problems

Hello,

This problem can occur when one of the following conditions is true:
  • The file is not installed correctly.
  • The file is corrupted.
  • Other programs, including memory-resident and anti-virus programs, are running and using any version of the file.
Register the File Manually loadTOCNode(2, 'workaround'); To register a specific file again in the registry, while you are working in Microsoft Windows, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK RegSvr32 filenamewhere filename is the name of the file specified in Error 1904.
You should receive a message that the file is now correctly registered. If this doesn't fix your problem then go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/237294 for further options.

Hope that this helps!

Problem w/ WIN2000 Pro & XP Pro

HERE IS THE SOLUTION :
click on the link given below and find oc25.dll....if you are unable to find press keyboard key cntrl + f .A dialog box will appear now type oc25.dll and hit find key and you will find the oc25.dll .click on that file to download it to your computer.

http://www.dlldump.com/dll-files/O_2.html

Once you have downloaded the file you are looking for you still need to make sure Windows or the program causing the error can find it. Follow these steps:

1. If you are encountering an error with Windows...
The file you downloaded needs to be placed into the Windows System directory. On most machines this is one of the following locations:
C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me),
C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or
C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP).

If you are encountering an error with a particular program...
The file most likely needs to be in this program's directory. This directory is where the program is installed (i.e. c:\Program Files\ThisProgram).

If this step solves the problem, you do not need to complete step 2.

2. You may to register this file with Windows. Click on the Start Menu and then on 'Run'. If you are replacing a Windows system file, type the following command:
regsvr32 \windows\system\file.dll (Windows 95/98/ME),
regsvr32 \WINNT\system32\file.dll (Windows NT/2000), or
regsvr32 \windows\system32\file.dll (Windows XP).

For example, 'regsvr32 \windows\system\apphelp.dll'

If you are replacing a file for another program, change the directory where appropriate. For example, 'regsvr32 \program files\Norton\xyz.dll'

If the file is registered correctly, you will receive a positive confirmation message.

Please let me know your feed-back.
