I didn't see the atbroker.exe anywhere. I know something there is making it do that though. I disabled everything pressed close then enable everything. So it's gone for now but how can I find it without disableing one by one. Can it be under some other name, maybe??? Thank you so much. I am alot closer to figuring out how to get it to stop doing that. What could be the purpose for it coming up anyway?

Still comes up but now I can close out of it without it coming back up. There was only on "at" application. It said "atstartup" or something of that nature. There was no .exe but that's wat I disabled. Thank you. I rated this and the last comment.

When starting the comp, it gives the error "transitions accessible technologies between desktops has stopped working". I think I had a virus (which has been removed by now).

I was not able to find AtBroker along the route suggested by the first main comment

It's an application error try to disable it during startup by clicking start, select run, in the dialog box type "msconfig" (without the qoute) in the Systems Confiuration Utility window select the startup button located at the upper right portion. clear the check box that has an entry of 'atbroker' then click apply/ok then restart your pc. hope this helps.

You may have simply 'cooked' the DVD drive and the motherboard on it fried. Replacement drives start at 20 quid for a desktop and 30 quid for a laptop. It's held in with 1 screw if a laptop. Remove the drive, get the model number and replace it.

Hello,

You didn't mention about inserting a different CD in your computer. Try using different CD's. Make sure all CD's work great or are known good.

It might be just your CD.

  2. Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio recording and then click Next when the Recording Audio window opens.

Can i install a bluetooth in my laptop?

If your laptop have inbuilt bluetooth facility here's how
How to Set up a Bluetooth enabled device To set up a Bluetooth enabled device, you need to do three things:
  1. Add a Bluetooth adapter to your computer.
This is usually done by plugging the adapter into a USB port. (If a Bluetooth adapter is already built in or attached to your computer, ignore this step.)
  2. Set up the device so that your computer can find it.
    To do this, you must:
    • Turn the device on.
    • Make it discoverable.
To learn how to make a device discoverable, check the information that came with your device or go to the manufacturer’s website.
  3. Install the device.
To install most devices, such as a mobile phone, keyboard, mouse, or personal digital assistant (PDA), you can use Bluetooth Devices in Control Panel. If you have Bluetooth wireless technology installed on your computer, follow these steps:
To install a Bluetooth enabled device
    1. Click the Start button getcontent.aspx?assetid=4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33&documentset=en-us&renderkey=signed1, click Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Bluetooth Devices.
    2. Click Add, and then follow the instructions.
Note
  • Encryption features and a passkey can help to secure your data. However, these and other security measures can be compromised or fail and, if that happens, your data could be visible to or accessible by other devices or computers within range. Therefore, Bluetooth wireless technology should not be considered completely secure.

Dell GX270 running XP pro.8 USB ports (6 on back,2 on front) all stopped working.most of them still show power coming through when I plug in a mouse, and device manager says everything is good to go,but...

left click start, left click control panel, left click system icon, left click device manager, on all USB Root items right click and uninstall, each USB item in the list restart the computer the OS should auto detect each one again. No worries don't be alarmed about performing this task its standard troubleshooting for the USB Root Driver. Once all USB line items reappear check your peripherals that are connected to see if the items are working now. If not perhaps flashing the bios could help, visit support.dell.com and enter your tag number for your desktop GX270 and download the latest bios driver follow the instructions carefully for flashing the bios.
