Seem power supply fault, because some times, it looks that power going on, it is not giving proper voltage to motherboard. check other power supply.

Ram supported by asus motherbord p5p800-vm<green>

Memory should be same as the one that is in the motherboard . Each motherboard support only one type of memory. Search on the internet for the type of motherboard for memory supported with it. If it says other than DDR2/ DDR3 then the motherboard wouldn't support the memory. Do some searching like motherboaed p5p800 and see few websites for specification for the motherboard, check the memory specifically for the details.

Compatiblity issue..

You may install up to 4GB of DDR RAM in this motherboard. It does not use DDR2.

This is from your manual:

Dual-channel DDR400 memory support
Employing the Double Data Rate (DDR) memory technology, the motherboard supports up to 4GB of system memory using DDR400/333/266 DIMMs.

If you would care for the manual, here is a link:

I don't have mother board cd

Hi, I am confused regarding the model of the Mother board
you have:

The P5S800-VM is an LGA775 socket mother-board for a
Pentium 4 CPU.

P4-515, on the other hand, does not return any hits on the
Asus web-site search.

===

I think your best solution is to contact ASUS /USA:

1-888-678-3688

and talk to customer support.

They will guide you in identifying the exact motherboard you
have, so you can download the driver set from their
support site.

BTW.

I think you computer performance is very unbalanced at 256 MB.
This is not nearly enough memory to run with such a fast CPU,
(2.93 Gigs), and your machine must be terribly disk bound:

1) When your operating system runs out of semiconductor
memory, it begins to thrash to disk, which is 10 million times
slower then RAM, making the fast CPU a total waste of
money.

2) For a normal machine running Windows and a 3Gig CPU
you should have at least 1 GB of RAM, preferably 2GB
(RAM is cheap these days)

But before I put my foot too deep into my mouth, I notice that
you are running FREEDOS, does that mean you are running
DOS only (No Windows ?) for some specialized application ?

Hard drive compatibility

This motherboard is compatible with PATA/IDE Hd's running at 133/66/33Mbs. & ATA/SATA 1.5Mbs drives. The SATA's run faster. This board will not handle a SATA II's speed but it will still run on the P5P800-VM board. The links below show good buy's on both PATA/IDE & SATA I & II. Seagates for their 5yr. warranty.
Seagate ST3160215AS 160GB ATA/SATA
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=117012
Seagate ST3160215A 160GB Ultra ATA/100
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=117010
As far a size, that is up too you. Windows can handle 5 time these sizes.
