Do you have a video board in the computer, or just the on-board Video output?
You need to install a video board in the computer then you can set up the display for dual monitors.

Here is a link with a video on how to set up dual monitors.

How do I add a 2nd independent monitor when a splitter cable does nothing but carry the #1 monitor display?

The rear of the unit has both an HDMI and a VGA output connector. If you have a digital-ready monitor with HDMI and a monitor with a VGA analog port you can run a cable to each. The on-board video adapter will detect the second monitor and support it. My computer has a VGA, DVI-DD and HDMI output and I am running THREE monitors off the onboard video.

You need to enable the 2nd video output in the video card settings!

right click on desktop select properties and select the settings tab

Select the monitor 2, click on extend my desktop to this monitor.

Then you can drag windows either out from your main monitor, to up, down, or the sides debends on where you set the 2nd display, you can also change the position of the 2nd screen by draging it around in the middle.

I can only add 2Gig of Ram on my Acer Aspire t180 XP. The screen flickers when I add more. Help

The usual cause of screen flicker is a lack of power getting to the graphics card. The best way to check this is to remove another component to see if the flicker stops. If it does stop you need to upgrade the power supply.

Upgrading the power supply is a simple job. Let me know if you need more information on replacing the power supply.

I have an Acer am5100-u5301a. Is there a bios upgrade?

If the specs read that you can operate with 4GB of RAM, then I believe the AMD690g chipset is not the culprit.

The RAM that you're adding may be defective, or incompatible with the existing RAM.

Another possibility could be a bad RAM socket.

I also doubt you would get a black screen due to adding more RAM than the system is capable of handling, it would still start, but would not utilize the additional RAM.

Black screen usually means bad RAM or incompatible RAM or bad socket

How to repair and remove blue screen in Acer Aspire M5641

The resolution depends on *why* you're getting the blue screen. Start by disconnecting all of the drives, USB devices, and other peripherals. Connect just the monitor, power up, and see if it blue screens. If that works, next add just one RAM module and see if it blue screens. Then, add just the main hard drive and see if it blue screens. Keep adding one device at a time until you find the one that's causing the blue screen error. Once you've identified the bad part, get back to us, and we can discuss diagnosing or replacing it.

Getting no single to my moniter

If your power light is on and no long beeps from your computer then is your intergrated video chip is bad. Your system board dosnt support agp or pci-e video cards. You will have to settle for a pci video card here is a good computer store to purchase one. http://www.mwave.com/mwave/Deepsearchdd.hmx?%CustURLState%
