Question about Bose TriPort Consumer Headphones

1 Answer

Bose Tri-port headphones Model TP-1A plug in appears to have short.

My Tri-port headphones Model TP-1A are not working. I can get music in one ear and static in the other ear by moving the plug-in jack while connected to my ipod, stereo or computer. I'm guessing the wires are damaged or have a short. Can the wires and jack be replaced?

I have Bose TriPort in ear headphones. When I push the cord down in a certain position sound comes out the right ear but when I stop holding down the cord no sound comes out. Is the wire bent, split or short?? How can I fix them?

There must be poor workmanship here; on mine the wire leading into the left earphone pulled away from its rubber entry point... I was able to see copper wires threaded over a string, and after a few weeks the wires broke and now I cannot hear out of the left ear at all. For >$100 headphones this is very disappointing, and I hope there is a way to fix it!

My in ear headphones are shorting out. It appears that at the connector is where the problem lies. Is there is a fix for that?

Yes, there is! It's a long process that includes soldering and can damage the headphones if done improperly. If you've had the headphones for less than a year, I'm sure Bose has a manufacturers warranty that they will fulfill for you. I'd first go with that route if I were you. If you've had them for longer than that, then I'd suggest fixing them yourself. The following link chronicles how to do this.

It sounds like you have a faulty connection between the headphones and the music device. Try fiddling with the port of your computer, iPod, or whatever else you use to listen to music. If the headphones do this on more than one device, it's a problem with them. Fiddle with the cord while you listen and see if you can target the bad area of the cord. If you can manage to listen to the headphones successfully while tweaking the cord, you might be able to use them still, if not they're probably blown or dead. Hope this helps =]

I have the same problem. The first one that I bought last 1 year. I bought another one and the same problem has appeared today. I think this is because they are assembled in China. Cheap and low quality manufacturer that is sold at very high prices.
