My g4 Dual 1ghz (Mirror Door) mac will not start up.  The power light comes on when it is pressed and then goes off.  I have removed everything from memory, processor, video card, battery and even the hd and DVD drives and still nothing.  Is it the mother board?

I would say there is a bad ram stick in there. If you have more then one take one out then restart if nothing changes try the other.

All you should have to do is put in disk and powermac should start from it, if not then replace the pram battery and try again. The battery is on the motherboard and can be bought at any radioshack.

Week or bad power supply, or something shorted
Open the cabinet up and unplug everything off the motherboard except the power button. Leave only one drive connected and disconnect all other drives.
If this works, then plug and power the drives one by one.

Try replacing the PRAM battery on the motherboard. Radio shack carriers them for about 10 dollars. Start up from CD set clock and choose your hard drive as startup volume and reboot.

The power button is only working periodically

Hello,
On these PowerMac G4 desktops, the powerbutton works when you press hard and long on it.
If this continue even doing so, I would recommend to take the Mac for repair.

G4: I keep getting a blinking folder

To things can be wrong

1 the system folder is corrupt
2 The hard drive is bad

Too find out which one it is get the boot disk that came with it and restart holding the C key. If it boots and there is no hard drive image on the desktop it is bad if there is one then reinstall the system and you should be good.
