Question about Lexmark PhotoJet Z705 InkJet Printer
Turned it off one day and the next it won't print. When I attempt to print with the Lexmark Z705 I get a printer problem prompt. It says that if the light on the "ON" button blinks twice, I should turn the printer off, remove and re-install the ink cartidges and turn the print back on. It says if that doesn't solve the issue, there is something jamming the ink cartridge carridge. Such is not the case. The carridge moves freely.
I have done this as well as uninstalled the software and reinstalled it, all to no avail.
Is the printer "dead"?

Actually your printhead on the cartridges is probably clogged. I usually take the cartridges out, wet a paper towel and put in a dish and put in microwave for 20 seconds, then put the cartridge printhead on the paper towel for 10 seconds, and then blot with a dry towel. You should see the various colors in the color and black cartridges. Do it several times until ink in freely flowing. Put back in printer and run a clean cycle and try printing normaly. Ok Guys! I found the solution to the nasty "Problem communicating with the printer" AT LAAAST !
I have a lexmark 2480 and I recently upgraded to windows 7 ( I had the same problem with Vista earlier as well) so this problem has nothing to do with your operating system. The mistake I was making was that I first connected the cable and then began installing the setup.exe file. I never got the printer to work after that though strangely the scanner seems to work. I even enabled bidirectional port but it was no help. I tried unchecking the check box that said "save power...." in the usb port device I accessed using the device manger. No. Nothing works.
Finally I found the answer. I uninstalled lemxark. I disabled the firewall. Then Disconnected the cable. Guys this is important you have to disconnect the cable and then only hit setup.exe. You must connect the cable only when the setup asks you to. And it works. I used the setup in my CD which I got when I bought the printer. Despite the fact that my OS is windows 7, 64 bit all works fine!
take care, hope this helps people like me who had to tear my hair apart for 3 hours+.
