You will need to access the configuration panel of the router. You can do this via a web browser like FIrefox or IE, in a computer that is connected to the router (preferably by Ethernet cable) The router's address is usually http://192.168.1.1, but it will depend on the brand or make. CHeck the manual or the bottom of your router for this information.

I might have reset the bios on my lap top and know longer have an Internet connection

If you have installed the wireless card driver in your laptop then you need to configure this wireless card with the router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

Lap top asking internet security key

The security key is the wireless router's encryption key.
Depending upon the wireless router's settings this encryption key could be the WEP or WPA or WPA2 or a passphrase. The encryption key can be generated using a phrase (passphrase) which generates a group of hexadecimal numbers.

Hi do you know how I can connect my lap top to the internet wireless with my linksys wireless router ? the lap top asks for an access code and I do not know what it is or how to find it do you know how to...

The access code or password is the encryption key in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router won't allow the laptop/computer to connect to this wireless router.
The WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption key. Then go to your computer/laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

I am trying to connect a lap top and its asks for encryption key where do i find this key

The encryption key is configured in the wireless router settings.

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.

Trying to connect lap top

The WEP key is something you designate on your own router. IF you are trying to get into someone else's router you need to ask them for permission to have their WEP key. Otherwise you cant get in. If you forget your WEP key you can do a hard reset on the router to clear out the key.
