The led is blinking due to fault in power supply board.
On the power supply board there are some capacitors and ICs .if any of those gets short or faulty the power supply board will create problems and the red light will start blinking.
The components on the board needs to be checked with the help of multimeter and continuity tester. And the faulty components needs to be replaced with the help of soldering iron.
the procedure to check the power supply board is as follows:----
1) You are going to need a Phillips ( X ) Screwdriver for this procedure. The first thing you will want to do is find a suitable location to disassemble the TV. Try to find somewhere with plenty of space to work and preferably somewhere you will not have any hazards such as static (like carpet) Lay the TV Flat on its face (picture side down) and remove the 4 screws from the back of the TV holding the base on. Next you will want to process to remove the screws around the back cover. There are 12 screws you will need to remove (refer to picture for locations). Carefully remove the back panel of the TV. It may snag on the coaxial connector so be careful. 2) Once you have the back off of the TV you can see the Main board and power supply covers. You will now need to remove the left (right side from the back) speaker cover to allow access to two of the screws holding the Power Supply Cover in place. This is easy and pretty straight forward and has 8 screws around the perimeter. Once you have the speaker cover off you should be able to access the screws on the side and you will also want to remove the other screws from around the sides of the cover. Some TV's I have worked on only had 6 where others had 7 or 8. Just make sure to remove all of the screws before trying to remove the cover. Once you have the cover removed you will see the Power supply. Remove the wiring harnesses from the power supply board. You will have 4 cables at the top of the power supply and one main power input at the bottom. The main power input may have some glue securing it in place. Simply cut this with a knife or pull it loose. Once you have the cables off of the power supply you can remove it from the TV via the screws on the 4 corners. Be careful not to damage anything as you remove these screws. You now have the Power Supply removed from the TV.you can now get the power supply repaired from any local tv repair technician.or get new replacement power supply from the service center.or from online stores like :www.partstore.com or from www.shopjimmy.com Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
Samsung has had a issue with several models, with power supply going out. The clicking noise is what lets you know it is the power supply, it is teying to cut on but has not power from the board so it cuts off. I would call Samsung and see if your model happens to be listed as the models they are covering the power supply for, your exact model number is HCM553WX. If that model is not on the list of covered models, you can ask Samsung what to do, because parts for your tv are no longer available. Hope this helps. You can reach Samsung at 1-800-726-7864
The problem with the unit is power supply part number,MLT166A.If you can not find one you can try to fix yours.First you have to take out power supply,Replace 3 electrolytic caps EC18,EC19,EC20 all are 1000mf at 16 volt. Then find Z3 on same board,it is a 27 volt zener diode 1 watt, part number 1N4750A.Put board back in then unit should work.
I have read everything I can find on the net about this problem for Polaroid TLX 04240b TVs (most, like mine, bought from Wal-Mart on Black Friday after Thanksgiving). I thought I was on a hot lead when I changed a 220uF 450v capacitor, but I still had the same problem. I saw a short post from somewhere else on this Fixya web site (sometimes I can find it again and sometimes I have trouble locating it) that said someone flipped a tiny switch on their circuit board and the problem was gone. I did the same thing and my set has been working fine. They had said their set was on for over 8 hours two days in a row when they posted. The other night my daughter left our set on over night for 20 hours and the picture still was working great. If you look through the top of the set when the picture is on you can see some white light at several locations, when the screen goes blank the white lights go out and a red LED light can be seen. If you take off the plastic cover on the back (3 screws) and then take off the metal cover (3 screws) this red LED light is on the upper circuit board in the lower left corner. Just a little to the right of the LED light is a small switch block that has 4 tiny white switches. I turned my set off and took the bottom switch (#4 and had the letters BURN by it) to the right "ON" position, turned the set back on and, so far so good. PLEASE NOTE!!! I know almost nothing about how transistor circuits work. I have no idea what the switches do or what long term effect this might have on the set. The set was only good as a paper weight before so even if this only fixes the set for a short time it was at least worth a try for me. Does anyone know what those switches are supposed to be for????
The power supply is defective if the TV fails to power up or the front light just blinks, common failure on these LCDs with MLT166A power supplies.

If Z3 was shorted, there are 2 surface mount resistors that were damaged when Z3 became shorted and they have to be replace as well. The reference designator for the resistors is R65A and R65B, their value is 10 ohms and 1206 is the body size of the resistors.

you also have to replace the 2 resistor on bottom of the board they are 10 ohms each they are surface mount 1/4 quarter watt each they are next to z3, also have to replace the 3 caps. I have fixed 4 units with the same problem this must be obviously a design issue since many of these tvs have the same problem. hope this helps
