I installed my blackberry 8110 pearl software on my laptop. Ever since the Rixio media manager keeps poping up trying to update itself. I don't have a Roxio media player installed and I can't remove the blackberry software as all attempts to uninstall from the control panel keeps proving unsuccessful because of the media manager which keeps running itself. How do I stop the media manager and uninstall the blackberry software

Hi, you need the desktop manager, and you need to download the current software version for that device, its going to wipe everything out on the device, but you will get the device to work. after you download the the software, you need to run it on your PC, and then use the APP loader on the desktop manager to install it to the device. Step #1Before starting make sure that BlackBerry Desktop Software is installed on the computer. Step#2Make sure that you have installed updated device software installed in your PC. Step#3Users can perform a full or selective backup of the data using the Backup and Restore tool in BlackBerry Desktop Manager by completing the following steps:Connect the BlackBerry device to the computer running BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Double-click Backup and Restore. Select Backup to perform a full backup or select Advanced to perform a backup of specific databases. Choose a location to save the backup file, then click Save. Step#4To perform a clean install of the BlackBerry Device Software, perform the following steps:Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Double-click the Application Loader icon. Click Next to start the installation process. Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK. Click the check boxes next to the names of the applications you want to load, and then click Next. Click Advanced, and then click the check box beside Erase all currently installed applications. Click Next. Click the check box next to Do not automatically backup the application data during the loading process. Clear the box next to Backup and restore applications installed wirelessly. Click Next > Finish. When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear. Click Close to return to BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
before you follow the steps above and reload the handheld software, unless you want to lose EVERYTHING saved on your phone (contcts, messages, EVERYTHING) you need to use the same desktop manager program, click on the Backup and Restore icon, and create a BackUp of your phone's data. after reloading the handheld software you can restore the backup to your phone to get all your data back.

Open Desktop Manager, and click the Application Loader. On the right, you will see Update your device software. Click the Start Button, and if your BlackBerry is not on the latest Handheld Software, an update will appear. Select the update, and run the install. Be sure to select the option that backs up and restores your data. Once started, do not shut down your computer, or disconnect the USB sync cable as this could damage the device. Once completed, your BlackBerry will restart and you will have the latest version available. This version has been known to correct various issues.
