Same with my clp-300. Really hot at all times. It draws so much power at start-up; I have to use an ext cord from an outlet in the hallway.

I have problems with heat...I have had this printer for about a year and it seems to have developed this high heat problem...
    What gives?

brand new and very hot. Heat kills, so I got a bad vibe about the longevity of this printer.

Mine is the same way, to solve this I elevated the bottum by 2 inches, then i kept it off, also i blow a fan on it while running.
also, you need to clean the filter (the gray "L" inside) black dust should come out.
lastly, mine actually broke because it overheated.

SOURCE: Samsung CLP-300 Laser Printer partially faded prints and noise from the drum

The manual says if you are getting this clicking noise that the imager is loose and to take it out and reinsert it. This is the device that all the toner cartridges are inserted in. It just Pops out so it is easy to remove and reinsert. What happens is it gets loose in shipping sometimes and just needs to be reseated.

SOURCE: new trouble with my samsung CLP-300 printer

Can't believe the geniuses at Samsung didn't respond to this. I had the same problem and as usual, I started tinkering.  Two solutions: 1. Remove the used toner reservoir(located left on the toner cartridges...light grey, "L" shaped object) and discard(be environmentally aware).  Replace with new one. or 2. (My choice) Remove reservoir, empty contents carefully.  Wash thoroughly with cold water until water is clear.  Dry thoroughly with paper towel and blowdryer. Light must be clearly visible through the little magnifying bubble on the side. Works everytime.  Be patient. This takes about 5 minutes.  Can be very messy if you are not anally retentive as I am. :)  Al

The chips on cartridges are causing the problems.

My Samsung CLP-300 Laser jet is "burning" the ink when printing mostly dark colors which causes it to bubble and flake off the paper.

What kind of paper are you using? This printer does not work well with glossy paper and will do the things that you have described. Try using ordinary 20 lb copy paper and see if this makes a difference. If you are already using copy paper, then the problem is with the fuser, getting too hot.

Samsung CLP-300 printer, very poor black coverage

Samsung printers are far from the best. I have the same printer and it needs a Fuser. The fuser part costs more than I paid for the printer and it's a little over a year old. Samsung will not sell me the part but will repair the printer for $135 plus the part which costs over $135. Shipping is $20. I only paid $141 for the printer. I'll stick with Epson and to hell with Samsung.

Samsung CLP-300 Printer not printing black well

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. It's best to do this each time you install a new cartridge. get more information and help from here .

Heat and electrical smell

The smelland heat is probably from the fuser as it gets extremely hot, if the printer's new it might settle down. No you shouldn't have to turn the printer off when not in use.
