That is a good possibility. I once worked on this lady's washer and turned out she had a sock that got stuck in the pump. Had to take the pump apart to get it out. If you can remove the hose from the drain and run the machine without causing a big mess that will tell you whether the clog is in the machine or the drain. Then you can go from there.

SOURCE: Front Loading Washer won't drain

The problem is most likely change in the drain pump and sump area (rubber boot going from tub to pump). It is axcessed by removing the lower front panel. Disconnecting and reconnecting the hoses to the pump are real tricky!!!!!!!!!

SOURCE: Kenmore 44072 Front Load Washer Drain Hose Cleaning

Try this link for step-by-step instructions. More than likely you will have to clean the drain pump as well.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385844-checking_drain_pump_kenmore_elite_front

If you are having trouble draining the water from the wash tub, and cannot get it to drain with a shop vac, you can drain it directly from the tub. If you don't own a shop vac, you may have to bail. If your drain pump does not have a clean out trap, remove the inlet and outlet hoses to access the inside of the drain pump. Inspect the pump impeller for obstructions and/or damage. If the water will not drain when you try to pull a vacuum on the drain line, you may have to disconnect the drain hose from the bottom of the wash tub. In some front loaders, there is a ball valve in the drain hose from the bottom of the wash tub to the drain pump. This ball can act as a collection pint from lint and debris. You will need to remove the hoses from the bottom of the wash tub to clean this area. I would recommend doing this as a LAST resort. Often, it can be difficult to reconnect this hose to the tub and get it to seal correctly. I hope this helps you. Please post back if you need further assistance.

SOURCE: LG Washer/Dryer won't drain

The LG error code OE simply means "the pump is blocked". Presumably the water isn't being emptied properly. As with all error codes it is possible that there is a cause other than the exact description in the error code explanation but basically this error means as far as the washing machine is concerned it thinks the water isn't pumping out. A pump, or filter blockage is the most common cause but it could be caused by other faults such as a faulty pump, or even a blockage in the drain hose or somewhere else in the system etc.

LG themselves have some information on this error code..

"F21" is a Long Drain error. If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes this error code will be displayed. In addition, a "SUDS" error may also be displayed. This may be an indication of a drain pump problem and/or clog in the drain line. You will need to check the following:

1.First, attempt to unplug the washer for at LEAST 30 minutes to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the error code returns, proceed to step 2.
2.Check the drain hose to make sure it is not kinked or clogged.
3.Check the electrical connections to the pump and ensure the pump is running.
4.Remove the drain pump filter and check for foreign objects and/or debris.

If the above procedures do not correct the problem, it is recommended by the manufacturer to replace the drain pump.

Machine will not drain or spin

A washing machine won't spin if the water can't drain. Check hoses for any kinks or clogs that may prevent the water from draining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If it can't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses. This can be done by using the screwdrivers to remove the hoses and looking for clogs or running a water hose through the clogged hose to remove the clog. Use the rags and bucket to clean up the water that comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected. Once the clog is cleared, put the drain hose back into place. The washer should drain and spin now if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem.

If the washer still won't drain or spin, check to see if the lid is not closing all the way or if the lid switch is not clicking into place. Close the lid and make sure that it closes all the way down. When the lid closes, the lid switch should click. If there is no clicking sound, then the switch may need to be replaced.

Another possibility for a washing machine to not spin or drain is the pump. With the back panel still off the washer, check the pump with the voltmeter to ensure that the pump is getting power.

The washing machine is not draining the water away, so i can not get my washing out

It must be the drainage hose, the water cant go anywhere else. The majority of the drainage hose is out of view, unless you've taken the whole thing apart, so it must be blocked.

Hopefully, it will be under warrenty, or you're looking at arounf £70 for someone to come out and fix it.

In the future, every three months or so, put your washing machine on the hottest cycle with clear vinager, and a dash of bleach; this will help unblock any potential blockages.

  1. step 1 A washing machine won't spin if the water can't drain.
  2. Step 2 If the washer still won't drain or spin, check to see if the lid is not closing all the way or if the lid switch is not clicking into place. Close the lid and make sure that it closes all the way down. When the lid closes, the lid switch should click. If there is no clicking sound, then the switch may need to be replaced. Follow manufacturer's directions for replacing the switch. If the lid does not close all the way, visually check for signs that the lid is bent. If bent, try to bend it back into place.
  3. Step 3 Loose or broken belts could also prevent a washing machine from draining or spinning. Pull the washer away from the wall and, using the screwdrivers and wrenches, remove the back panel. Using the flashlight, visually check for any broken or loose belts. Replace any broken or loose belts. Although replacing washing machine belts is difficult, anyone who has replaced belts on a car, lawn mower or even a bicycle chain should be able to accomplish the task.
  4. Step 4 Another possibility for a washing machine to not spin or drain is the pump. With the back panel still off the washer, check the pump with the voltmeter to ensure that the pump is getting power. If the washer is getting power, turn on the washer and listen to find out if the pump is running but the water is still not draining. It may be necessary to remove the pump and clean it or to replace the pump with a new one. Once the pump is replaced, turn on the washer to determine if it will now drain and spin.
  5. Step 5 If all of the above steps fail to produce a washing machine that drains or spins, then it is time to call a professional repairman. Use the screwdrivers and wrenches to replace the panel on the washer and push it back against the wall.

WASHER WILL NOT DRAIN WATER KENMORE WASHER APPROX 9 YRS OLD

Does the tub spin without draining?

This JUST happened to me last night. Opened washer after a load and still full of water. Fifteen spins later, still about an inch of water in tub...
RepairClinic.com suggests checking the hoses from the washer tub to the drain pump for anything clogged in it. (WARNING!!! As soon as you remove one end of the hose ANY water remaining in the tub will come RUSHING out if not clogged. I was prepared for water, but not a rush of water.)
If there is no clog in that hose, remove the drain pump and check for something in it.
(My pump was burning up because some how a plastic stick got into it. I am waiting on the new pump now.)
If there is nothing in the first hose or the pump, see if anything is in the hose leading to the drain.

If not, they suggested something either purchasing a new pump as it may have quit working or something may have gotten stuck in between the tubs. This requires tearing apart and sometimes special tools.

follow the discharge hose into the washer body --- the trap will be at the housing the hose connects to --- not a big job. be sure to unplug the machine and hand bail the standing water out of the basket. keep a sponge and rags with a pail for the water in the trap and hose. no special tools, but it will be metric

Clogged pump on Affinity Washer

Exactly the same problem. Washed a small area rug that appeared to have pretty much disintegrated. Machine would not drain. Got the same e 20 code. Checked the drain hose, and it was fine. Reamed the house drain just to be sure. Drum appears to have drained, but now the motor runs, and no water enters the machine. Both water hoses are flowing. No further error codes. Nada.

Kenmore Front loader clogged up

open the back panel to access the hoses. look for the largest-diameter round hose and disconnect it. this should be the drain hose. it also should lead to a vertical-rising pipe or hose that then dumps downward (U-tube at top) into your house piping outside the washer. My hunch is the clog is somewhere before the area where you disconnected and may need to remove all hoses from the pump and also clean pump's impeller.
