Question about Philips 42PF9630A 42 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

Philips 42PF5520D The power keeps tripping and it goes to stand by. Once unplugged and turned back on it may last for a few seconds before it trips again, or a few minutes or even an hour plus. It seems to last longer the longer it has been off (e.g. half an hour or a whole day off). Any suggestions

The capacitors in the power supply are probably bad. The best way to check them in circuit it with a ESR Meter. Or you can do what us old technicians call shotgun it and replace all the caps on the power supply module. Let me know it this helps.

Why wont my sharp lcd LC-32D44U turn on?

Well, there could a be few issues. First thing is to verify the breaker that gives power to that wall has not tripped off in the home's break power panel. If it is not tripped then verify the wall outlet that the TV is plugged into has a reset button, like a GFI (ground fault interrupt) If it does then verify that it has not tripped. If the GFI on the wall plug is tripped simply push the reset button back in and then try plugging in your TV power plug again. Then if that checks out or does not have a GFI outlet, verify that the power plug going into the back of the TV is not loose. Unplug and replug power plug that plugs into the back of the TV in and verify it is securely connected. Lastly, the power supply in the TV might have gone out.

WHEN I TURN ON THE POWER THE THE RED LITE COMES ON

We have a TV that does this after we have left it off but plugged in for awhile when we go on a trip. Just unplug the TV, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. If it's like ours, you'll find that resets it.

Plasma philips model 42pf5520d/10 working few seconds and go for stand by led

Hi,

I have seen this once before and the reason was a capacitor on power supply board.

My bet would be Power Supply board, before we troubleshoot anything else. Check the continuity of the board. There might be many capacitors or diodes. Check the voltage across them. Sometimes, you can find a faulty capacitor by naked eye. Usually, the defective one are swelled.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Philips 42PF9956/37 Plasma TV - Looking for y sustain board

it isnt the Y-SUS board, it is the Power supply, iv fixed this exact problem twice in the last month, try turning the tv on, and when it turns green, unplug it real fast, while light is still green, after 15 seconds plug it back in, then hit the power button, if it dont come on, hit the power button again, this time, as soon as it turns off, hit the power button again to turn back on, sometimes you can trick the tv and it will turn on, at least i was able to do it, and once it comes on, it should work fine, untill you turn it off again.

Power Supply Keeps Tripping Fuse

Freeze the capacitors is a trick worth trying. These usually are the problem

the way you run this is too use freeze spray to freeze each capacitor one at a time . Turn the TV on and if it doesn't trip for a few second longer you know that is the capacitor to change. Freezing capacitors only helps identify the fault if it is a capacitor issue (usually is with power on TV's)
