Canon MultiPASS F50 won't copy but will scan

My Canon MultiPASS F50 will not copy. A few copies were very light and now the paper is clean. However the scan function operates as normal. I can scan to pdf or image software and then print the document. Printer funcrions are normal in color or black and white. Fax functions are normal. ???? Does anyone have a clue?

Copy function won't work on platen. Scanner function works ok on platen. The light bar scans the entire document. It also moves to the left when using the document feeder. It scans to pdf or image, and prints ok from image or pdf so a copy can be made in 2 steps. Everything is normal except the copy function from the platen or doc feeder. The light in the scan bar is the same brillance in copy or scan. The scan bar does scan the document. ?????? Is there a system reset other than removing the power plug?

Does the copy function work if you place the document to be copied on the platen (open the cover and lay it on the glass)? If so, check the area to the left of the platen. There should be a strip of glass with a clear plastic cover over it. This area is used for scanning when feeding paper through the automatic document feeder (ADF) from the top. This area must be clean. If this area is clean and clear, it's possible that the scanner element (below the glass) is no longer going all the way to the left when using the ADF. This would be a problem that would require servicing.

Hi,
...I try to copy a document using either the laser copier or the fax part of the machine...

These isnt laser copier, you probably refer to scaner assy... but never mind.. lets solve your problem!

First, new inks are reffiled or original?
Remove inks and look for small hole, ussually on top of crg. and blow in it verry hard. After that from crg. must start to drop ink. Put the ink back in and try to copy/print something. Also run head cleaning for few times.

If now it works that could mean two things:
1) the ink was for long time on warehouse, and nozzles are clodged.
2) your purge unit is faulty and it cant drain ink from crg.Replace purge unit, wich isnt cheap solution.
Or,... buy new LASER Canon multifunctional copier that uses TONER.

Hope that helped!

Changed ink cartridges, error code Wrong Cartridge, won't print, copy or scan

I had this same problem with my HP All in One. They told me the cartridge was defective, or the sensor was bad. Try a new cartridge first.

Need drivers to install in vista program

Canon does not support Vista at this time.
But you can set your MultiPASS to print only mode in which case it will be recognized as another model printer and you'll get basic printer function.
Press the buttons in this order. Menu-Scan-Copy-Set-Set
Restart you computer and it will recognize the printer as Canon BJ S630 This should provide basic print functions.

Have a Canon F50 Multipass. The alarm light is

Attempt to re-surface any replaceable rollers with a brillo or Scotch Bright pad ONLY if you are unable to locate replacement rollers. This will reduce the life of the rollers further and can permanently render them defective

Any rollers in the paper path and in the tray area(s) should have texture and should not be glossy or completely smooth with the exception of hard-plastic rollers used only as guides.
