I have a problem with my printer, will be glad if you could help. When I try to print, the printer tries to pick paper from the feeder tray but the paper crinkles up and the screen says to load paper. I try to put in fresh clean paper and the same thing happens over and over again. Could you please help. Thanks for your help
Hmm, no plastic pieces in my case. There is a full sheet of paper wrapped around a spindle in the very back, bottom section of the printer. There is no way to open it up that I can find so I have no way to remove the paper. Considering the cost of repair (out of warranty) and the time it would take to get it repaired, I simply went out and bought another printer -- this time something more sturdy --a Canon MX-850 which has the same basic feature set but also does double sided copying and printing and is networkable. The front panel is virtually identical in layout to the Lexmark 5470 so it was an easy transition.

Hi Jamieos, Turn the printer off and on.Solved? Turn the printer off and disconnect from PC.Unplug from power.Reboot the PC. Remove the papers from the feed tray and look through the paper path for any obstructions. Load the print papers and make sure they are correctly aligned on the feed tray. Cear any print queues on your PC. Connect everything now and start the PC. Try printing.
no you might have a paper jam somewere and mabe you ink rollers are dry you might have to tell the printer to to a pre test and clean and if there is a paper jam it should be a slot on the back by the roller should be a tap that shows the tollers look for a pice of paper jammed somewere in the roller you migh have to take the paper out to inspct it for a paper jam and if none mabe the print heads are dry and it dosent feed the paper then could be it ok clean the print heads tell the printer to to a roller clean and then after that if no paper jam no were try printing a page take all the paper out and feed it manually and if it prints then some printer want feed if you have filled the paper tray up try putting less and then try
Hi, Sounds very much like the feed rollers are worn out. If you can get to them without too much trouble you can clean them up with regular rubbing alcohol and a rag which will help the paper feed. You might also want to try unpluging the printer and trying to roll the paper feed buttons by hand and seeing if a piece of paper will feed through without catching anywhere. If it does catch somewhere, then you may very well have a small piece of paper jammed in the paper path causing the jam. Good luck.
Is this a top feed - that is paper loaded on top at the back
bottom feed from a tray underneath?
Top feed take one sheet of paper and gently push it down whilst the printer is trying to grab it.
Tray feed - take tray out make sure no paper fragments are in the tracks and find a nail board and gently abrade the pick up rollers.
The rubber paper rollers on your printer that picks-up paper may have wiered out. So try replacing them.
This may occur when the rubber rollers get dirty also. In that case just cleaning them with a wet cloth will do the solution (no water drop should fall on the printer assembly).
