Question about Samsung CLX 3160fn All-In-One Printer

SSMMgr.exe For the last week whenever I turn off my computer, a window comes up that says it is shutting down SSMMGR.exe another message appears and says this program is not responding. Now I cannot get any thing to print. There seems to be a new file created: ssmmgr.exe-064Do47E prefetch I can't survive without a printer, I need HELP

You need to completely delete and reinstall your drivers and Smart Panel software. Delete the printer from the [Printers & Faxes] menu in [Control Panel]. After that, go again into [Control Panel], then into [Add Remove Programs] and search (in alphabetical order) for the Samsung Status Monitor. Thenclick on [Remove].

After you are finished, reinstall from the original CD keeping in mind not to connect the unit untill the installation procedure tells you to do so.

I don't know how long it takes for a solution to appear here. I posted one, then had to login, so not sure it got posted.

Anyway, the problem is the Windows firewall program, or any firewall program running on your local computer. The samsung monitor has two-way communication with the computer, and the firewall will stop the communication, which is why it appears to be non-responsive, when in fact it is disallowed from responding.

Turn off the Windows firewall and use a hardware router to isolate your LAN from the WAN. I posted a more complete answer, if it appears, then I won't need to elaborate further.

    Also, choose one that ends with .1, for example and use a netmask of so the LAN has 255 local addresses (Class C subnet).

    Then hand out addresses from and hand out 50 addresses, enough for most SOHO (Small Office Home Office) networks.

    This is more secure, in my opinion, than running Windows Firewall, or any firewall on the computer itself, especially when your LAN has active devices on it (like the samsung printer, or a network attached storage device) that need to communicate to and from your computer. The Windows Firewall interferes with this, and caused me the same problem you are describing.

    Reinstalling the software may help, but I doubt it. Just remove the WIndows Firewall.

    If you are tired of seeing the Windows popup about how your machine is at risk, go to the control panel, run the Security Center application, turn off the firewall and under the Resources area on the left, "change the way Security Center alerts me" and remove the checkmark from the firewall, or the other items if you wish.

    If that doesn't fix the problem, go ahead and turn on the firewall and try to solve the problem another way. I ended up with McAfee personal firewall, and it does NOT interfere with my LAN access, and the firewall sort of comes automatically with the virus protection built into McAfee.

    Whatever you do, get a router between your LAN and the public WAN, that's a minimum requirement for safe use of the internet.

Mk. so this trick only works with windows operating systems. DONT BE SCARED! Master recovery (at startup you press the button to interrupt the operating system loading such as the ESC button. You want to recover your system so F11 or something) will not restore your computer to its previous password. It will remain the same. It will only recover what you deleted, uninstalled, and other dangerous changes to your computer. But here, I will guide you. If you have HP Support computer, select the center panel and go into command prompt. In the command prompt, type exactly:
cd C:\Windows\System32
copy cmd.exe cmd1.exe
rename sethc.exe sethc1.exe
rename cmd1.exe sethc.exe
then click on all the cancels (this will restart your computer).
on a Normal Computer (that does not have HP Support), try the master recovery (follow same procedure until you get to a desktop and window) when it asks you about using system restore, click NO. When the error message appears, click on see details, scroll all the way down and click on the text document link (ending in .txt). The text document comes up. Click on File then Save As... Up pops another window. DO NOT SAVE YET! Browse to C:\ (or the letter of your main harddrive. you can always tell when it contains the folders with the namesprogramicon1.png files, windows, and users) then click on windows then click on System32. Find cmd.exe (It looks like command prompt, all black with C:\ on it) then right click on it then select copy. Find sethc.exe (a blue ball that you see at the login screen that says accessibility tools) and rename it to something else like sethc1.exe. THE FILE EXTENTIONS ARE VERY IMPORTANT! Find your copy of cmd.exe (like cmd-copy.exe or cmd(2).exe) and rename it to sethc.exe, and click on cancel, and get out of there. You may realize that sethc.exe is triggered (even on the logon screen) by pressing the shift button many times in succession. So trigger sticky keys (that's the official name of sethc.exe) by shifting too much, and you get a command prompt instead. So type in the command prompt:
net user
And you get a list of all the users that are active on the computer. Pick yours. I will represent it with USERNAME here in my example:
net user "USERNAME" *
And it will reply:
Type a new password for USERNAME:
Confirm new password for USERNAME:
And you reset your password! See if you can log on now! If you can, great! now you need to go and really recover using master recovery because you don't want anybody else doing that on your computer and trolling you. Hope this helps

You could try the following:
Do a shut down of your computer.
After the computer shut down, unplug your printer usb cable.
Turn your printer off then on and leave printer on.
Restart your computer and wait until computer has fully started up.
Plug in the printer usb cable.
The computer should detect the printer.

When I try to scan or print a message comes up telling me to ck power and usb connections. I have unplugged and restarted computer 4 times and still have problem

It could be a communications error message, the printer is not communicating with the computer.

  • Disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable.
  • Disconnect and then reconnect the printer power cable.
  • Restart the computer.
  • Remove and reinstall the printer software

  • If your printer does not function properly or communication error messages appear when using your printer, you can remove and reinstall the printer software.
    1. Click Start®Programs or All Programs®Dell Printers®Dell Photo AIO Printer 962®Uninstall Dell Photo AIO Printer 962.

    2. Follow the instructions on the computer screen to remove the printer software.

    Uninstall the program from your computer. Plug in your printer first replace with new cartridge making sure to remover the film on the cartridge Then plug in patch cord to computer, program should reinstall if need be you may have to have your disk that comes with the printer. Hope this works, Printers are going for very cheap I would suggest buying a new one if this does not work.

    My Dell 922 AIO can't communicate with my computer, but only after updating from Windows updates. Before the update, there was an error message about dlbtjswx.exe. Any suggestions?

    I just spent hours last week on this for my home computer... until I came across a fix on another thread. There is a 922AIO patch in the drivers section on Dell's website (I couldn't get the US patch to download correct so I ended up using the patch from the Dutch section of Dell's site - sounds goofy, but it worked!). The patch is for Vista, but it fixed my XP machine. Hope this helps you, it worked for me after much frustration in trying to find a solution.

Solutions The following solutions should be tried in the order they are presented. If the first solution does not correct the issue, proceed to the next solution; if that solution does not correct the issue, proceed to the last solution. Solution one Uninstall and then reinstall the software using the following procedure:
    1. Uninstall the software by inserting the software CD that came with unit into the CD-ROM drive on the computer.
