Question about Olympus DS-2300 Digital Voice Recorder

"Memory Full" message flashes, even though all files are deleted

As I used the recorder for multiple recordings, I deleted each audio file off the device (via the computer, a Mac).  The display numbers showing the length of time I had left still went down to zero.  I went thru folders A-E pressing and holding the "Erase" button, only to get the message "No File."  So I've deleted everything I know to delete - using the device interface as well as the computer interface - and it still shows "Memory Full."  It's essentially unusable as-is, and I need it for work.
Thoughts, experiences, suggestions??

On both the Mac and a PC the device is shown to have no free space whatsoever, yet the sole 6 folders on the device don't add up to more than 300 kilobytes.  Some invisible files I can't find are taking up all the space.  I'm stuck.  Is there some manual override I can do which could forcibly wipe the memory clean?

Use the reformat option in the menu to completely erase the memory.

How to restore audio files from formated Olympus digital recorder

You should stop recording new ones to prevent the old ones from being overwritten. If your digital recorder has a memory card, take it out and insert it to your computer with a card reader. If the device has built-in memory, just connect it to your PC directly. On your computer, you need a video/audio recovery program. Fine one, install and run it. The software will help you scan lost audio files from your recorder, then it'll show you what it's found. Choose the files you want and hit the "Recover" button to start recovery process.

If you're a Mac user, please feel free to try this Mac based video/audio recovery app. http://www.leawo.org/photo-recovery-mac/

I downloaded the contents of my Tascam DR-05 to my computer because it was full, but, instead of doing it as always, by just downloading the soundfiles, I copied the file folder dr005 to my computer,

Eric have you tried to do a "Quick Format"? If I'm not mistaken when that is done, you re-format your card and the small memory in the DR05. I had trouble with mine at first but when I did the formatting after I put the bigger 2GB memory card in the DR05 worked great. I record on "All Files" too, that seems to work well also.
Hope that helps,
Patrick

Recover deleted files from cenix vr-p3490

You can recover deleted files with asoftech data recovery software. get the software from link below

Audio Recorder Recovery Software

Please be noted that your voice recorder memory should show as a drive letter in your explorer, if not, you need to take out your memory card and connect using a card reader, or plug-in to card reader slot if there's any on your computer.

I deleted my audio files directly from the computer. Now that I try to record again, the device says that memory is full, even though I have no files on it. How do I reset it to record again?

To erase a selected file, first press the [ERASE] button. Next, press the [+] (plus) or [-] (minus) button to select "ERASE," and then press the [ERASE] or [OK] button.
To erase all files in a folder, first select the folder and press the [ERASE] button for three seconds or longer. Next, press the [+] (plus) or [-] (minus) button to select "ALL ERASE." Finally, press the [ERASE] or [OK] button.
NOTE:
The recorder should be formatted using only by using the internal FORMAT function found in the recorder's Menu. Formatting using the computer may corrupt system files needed to run the recorder, so computer formatting is not recommended. Individual files can be deleted using the computer with no negative effects.

I just deleted (remotely from my mac) all the files in Folder A of my Olympus DS -40, b/c I'd gotten a memory full message. Even though it shows no files in Folder A, it still says memory full.

I found the answer on this site: http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_support_faqs.asp?id=1126#22 I held down the menu button--got to the sub menu and restored it to the original default setting. It cleared everything and now I can record tons again. Note for future--don't delete on your mac--only delete the files on your dvr to save you the trouble of having to do this.

Need to recover deleted file from recorder

Sorry for a late reply but chances are high to recover your deleted files.

First things first: DO NOT take any more videos or audio with the recorder that you want to recover files from in case you may quite possibly ruin your chances of voice memo file recovery.

Then connect your device to a PC, and have a try of Photo Recovery (also recover audio, voice memos, video files etc), a data recovery program which is good at recovering media files lost. If you are Mac OS X users, turn to Data Recovery for Mac.

Lastly, I hope you good luck. Again you should remember - the more you use your recorder, the less likely you may be able to recover the deleted files back! So STOP using the device ASAP. Regards

Sony ICD-UX70/UX80 digital recorder...memory full problem

I solved the problem by connecting my Sony IC Recorder to the USB port on my McBook Pro computer and then emptying the trash can on the Mac computer. Visually (flashing red indicator light) and audibly (the recorder's sound that indicates something being erased), it was clear that mp3 files were finally, really being erased on the Sony recorder even though the recorder's own screen display had previously shown only empty folders and no files. Dragging files to the trash can doesn't really erase them unless you also empty the trash. All dragging to the trash can does is somehow mark the files in a way that, unfortunately, makes them invisible to Sony's file detection system.

Recorder says "PLEASE DOWNLOAD FILES," but there are no files to download

The DS-2 has a format option in the menu under submenu. After you choose start you will see a progress bar and it should return to full record time. Use on a MAC seems to cause the reduced record time more often than on a PC.
